The Body Shop Haul

Good morning my lovelies! Hope your all well. I don’t feel the best this morning so I might have a bit of a pamper day to cheer myself up! Anyway… Look what I came home to yesterday. They got me again! Spend £40 and recieve £20 off! Who can ignore that offer seriously? So.. On to what I brought…

MUSLIN CLOTH
Used with cleanser, this super-fine muslin cloth helps to remove make-up and impurities as it gently exfoliates the skin.
After receiving a muslin cloth in my recent Birchbox I decided to stock up so I brought 2. You didn’t think I’d go back to my fannels did you?

POLYNESIA MONOI MIRACLE OIL
This fragrant oil is inspired by Polynesian spa rituals. It can be used as a body moisturiser, massage oil, bath oil or hair conditioner.
So as you know I’m kinda obsessed with my bath oils at the moment.. After trying out the one from my April Glossybox and the May Birchbox it is my favourite new obsession. I have done a full review of this product here

SKIN PRIMER – MATTE IT
This primer for normal and oily skins creates a smooth base for foundation. It has been designed to deter shine and make make-up last longer.
Everyone loves a good primer. I’ve never really involved myself with much of the body shops make up range so I thought I would give this one a go. I recently did a review on this here

VITAMIN C MICRODERMABRASION
Fine exfoliating micro particles and crushed garnet stones remove dead skin cells to reveal a brighter, more radiant complexion.
I’ve recently run out of my simple exfoliation cream so thought I would give this one a go!

For all of those items, I paid £20 (excluding P&P) I always try and make it to £20, it’s like a little game while I’m shopping!

Reviews of these items will be here shortly! Thanks for reading!

Did you get sucked into another of the body shops deals? What did you buy? Let me know!

Soigné Nail Lacquer

image

I received this in my May Birchbox . I always love receiving nail polishes. It’s always something I’m going to use and I love finding out about new brands I might not have found out about on my own. When I opened the beautiful packaging I instantly loved the colour. It’s so me and I couldn’t wait to try it on. The shade I received was called Cerise. It’s a red with a hint of pink. The definition of soigné is dressed very elegantly; well groomed.

So this is the outcome of my nails! Excuse my nails, had to cut them down because they aren’t in the best condition at the moment!

image

And this is after a day at work! I was really surprised to be honest because my nail polish hardly ever lasts at work!

The brush on this Polish is very flat which helps with application. The formula has a great consistency. Not too thick that you can’t glide it over your nail bed property without it pulling. One thing that annoys me about nail polish is when it’s streaky. There is nothing more annoying when you get a streak on your nails. This brushed on so smoothly without any streaking. It’s very pigmented too. One coat would do but I always like to apply two coats to make the colour more vibrant! I’m pretty impressed by this product . With ingredients that are approximately 85% of natural origin. It is also Formaldehyde,  Toluene,  Dibutyl Phthalate and Camphor free.

Conclusion
I love this product. I will be using it alot I think this summer. I’m so surprised that it lasted me all day at work! At £11 a pop it’s a little pricey, but you’re paying for quality.

Review: The Body Shop Overnight Serum-In-Oil

Wake up to beautiful skin with new Vitamin E Overnight Serum-In-Oil, a technical innovation combining the power of a serum and oil to indulge, replenish and recharge skin with moisture overnight.

image

I brought this product because I was experiencing dry skin with the foundation I was using and the winter weather we were having. My night cream wasn’t doing a fat lot so i thought i would test out a new serum. The Body Shop had an offer on at the time so I thought I would take advantage of that!
The first thing I thought when I was looking at this product was what the hell is a in serum oil? The lovely shop assistant explained it. It’s basically what it sounds like. A serum in an oil. So you basically get the best of both worlds with this product. It is kinda lacking in the Vitamin E and probably has more fragrance than Vitamin E but the texture is hydrating and works incredibly well.

This product claims to feel like 8 hours sleep for your skin, make skin feel recharged, replenished and softer, makes skin look fresher, rested and more radiant and has a non-greasy fast absorbing formula.

Application
Apply a few drops in the palm of your hands and gently rub together to warm. Apply on the face and the neck with a gentle patting motion. Using fingertips, massage in small circular movements over forehead, cheeks, around mouth and chin area.

Review
I must agree with The Body Shop, it does absorbs fast. To say it’s an oil, I was surprised. When waking up my skin feels rejuvenated and smooth, it does make me feel my skin has had 8 hours, I hardly ever do so someones got to! It has a slight scent to it which I’m not overly fond of but it’s not too bad to put me off. After a couple weeks use I could feel the benefit of this serum-in-oil. I forgot to use it a couple of night and I could feel the difference.

Conclusion
If you have oily skin I wouldn’t recommend this. I know people with oily skin can break out in spots from using oil based products. However, if you have combination or dry skin this is the product for you. Saying this, because of all the added ingredience for the fragrance, I wouldn’t recommend this to people with sensitive skin. Although I think the price is a bit high at £12 for 28ml it has lasted me a while, and The Body Shop are always having offers on so I’m sure you can get it in a deal! Just remember, this is a PM oil not an AM oil. It’s far too rich for day time use.

Have you used this product? If so, what did you think about it? Do you use any other oil based skin care products? Let me know! That’s for reading  x

Review: The Body Shop Tea Tree Cool & Creamy Wash

Our cool new cleansing sensation is the perfect wakeup call for blemished skin. Use daily for a velvety-soft cleanse with a blast of cool freshness.

image

This is one of the best impulse buys I’ve had in a long while. I use this tea tree in the morning because it wakes me up! I’ve never really suffered from spots if I’m honest, I just love a good cleansing product and I just love the feeling of tea tree products.

Application
Massage into the skin using fingertips, then rinse away with water. If product gets into the eyes, rinse thoroughly

Review
I’ve been using this a while now every morning. I’m not a morning person and I need something like this to wake myself up. It’s a very creamy formula too which helps hydrate my skin. It doesn’t lather up which I was a bit taken aback about but who cares when my skin feel amazing after? It goes a long way too. You don’t need to use alot to wash your face. After use my skin always feels fresh, cool and clean. I can’t comment on the spot aspect of this because I don’t really get many (don’t hate me) but maybe this is why? I’d like to think so!

Conclusion
If you’re like me and need a pick me up in the morning, when your body has woken up but your face hasn’t yet you need this in your life! Like I said I cant comment personally about the spot aspect, but reading alot of people’s other reviews it has helped them! It’s creamy formula is very hydrating so if you have dry skin this will do the trick. At £5 for 100ml tube I think it’s a bargain.

You can check this out on The Body Shop website here.

Have you tried this product? What did you think about it? Did it get rid of those annoying spots? What facial cleaners do you use? Let me know!

Review: Max Factor All Day Flawless 3 in 1 Foundation

Face Finity All Day Flawless 3 in 1 foundation holds like a primer, corrects like a concealer with the long lasting finish of a liquid foundation with SPF 20.

image

Good evening my lovelies! I couldn’t wait to post this because I know how many of you are waiting to hear how I got on! So here it is… Recently I’ve been using No7 Beautifully Matte foundation. I’ve been enjoying it but I’ve felt like a change. So I popped into superdrug and picked this up. The thing that attracted me to it was the 3 In 1 aspect. Anything that works on 3 common problems is good in my book. I’ve heard good things and not so good things about this foundation so I thought I would put it to the test myself.

Review
First off, I’m used to the full coverage of my No7 foundation. So when I tried it on my face at first I thought this was going to be too thin for what I like. I was surprised that it builds up nicely. Usually when a foundation is a medium coverage, it feels like I’m wearing a mask because I’m trying to build it up. But I was delighted that it felt light on my face. It’s setting time is pretty average so you have time to blend. The finish I was most shocked about. It was Matte! Usually when I buy a Matte foundation 9/10 times its not that matte. I usually look in the mirror half way through my shift at work and I can see a sheen on my nose, forehead and chin where i can see my foundation has moved. Not today! Although I did have tiny marks in my expression lines, it was no where near as bad as it used to be! I got a bit hot half way through the day and I could feel my face sweating a little. Didn’t effect my foundation at all. My skin felt silky smooth all day. It also did a good job on the one spot I have at the moment on my nose. The pump, by the way, has this brilliant close-open option so fear not when you lose or break the main plastic cap!

Conclusion.
The primer-concealer-foundation combination of this product is no joke. It does what it says on the tin so it’s perfect for people prone to oily/spotty skin. To those who have dry skin, I wouldn’t recommend using this as it will emphasise dry patches, but this is perfect for those who have normal to combination and oily skin. The only bad thing about this product is the lack of shades. If you have pale skin, my choice was light ivory 40 which suited me just fine. It doesn’t cake, streak or fade. I was very impressed with how fresh I looked throughout the day. The high SPF is a major selling point for me too. This foundation retails at 11.99 so if you are still looking for a solid affordable foundation, you can definitely try Max Factors All-Day Flawless 3 in 1.

Review: Aromatherapy Associates Revive Morning Bath & Shower Oil

Wake yourself up with this reviving blend of pink grapefruit, rosemary and Jupiter berry essential oils, perfect to shrug off sluggishness before showing.

image

So I received this is my May Birchbox and I was so excited to try it out after trying the MONU Spa Warming Ginger Massage & Body Oil I received in April’s Glossybox.. (I recently did a review on this here ) so I run myself a bath, with my tablet fully charged watching an episode of House (I love Hugh Laurie at the moment!) and dived in… Not literally..

Application
Add entire container to your bath or smooth it over your body before showering. Follow with appropriate body wash and moisturises if required.

Review
So the sample i received wasn’t that big compared to the MONU Spa one I received. So I thought to make a good judgement I had to use the same amount in this bath then I did the other… So I poured it all in…
The smell was nice. But it didn’t seem to last very long, where as the MONU Spa oil lasted for hours after my bath, In my bathroom and on me! That disappointed me a little because it did smell nice. Also it didn’t really leave my skin as soft as again the MONU Spa oil. It seems like all I’m doing is banging on about the other product but for the price tag on this one I expected alot more if I’m honest.

Conclusion
I’m sorry to say that I won’t be buying this product in the full size. Guess what I will be buying though? Yeah you already probably know… For £39 I think it’s over priced.

Have you tried this product? Did you enjoy it? Do you disagree with anything I have said? Let me know! X

Review: Avon Advanced Techniques Daily Shine Dry End Serum

Immediately provies up to 100% shinier hair, leaves hair looking healthy and helps smooth dry damaged hair

image

Morning my lovelies!
So yeah I love Avons advanced techniques range. I’ve been using this for over a year. I always make sure I’m well stocked up.

Directions
Massage a few drops onto wet or dry hair. Do not rinse. Style as usual.

Review.
I have to use serums for my hair, as I’ve said in other posts, I have bleached hair and to maintain it I need quite a few products to keep my hair healthy. This is a staple in my hair routine. I use this after I straighten my hair, or if it just needs a bit of a lift. It doesn’t leave my hair feeling greasy at all. Although it says you can use on wet or dry hair, I only use on dry hair, as I have the Argan Moroccan oil in the same range that i use for wet hair. (I recently did a review on this product, check it out here!) My hair never feels heavy with it in as I’ve noticed when I’ve used other serums. I’m trying to grow my hair, and I’m only having it cut every other time I go to the hair dressers, this maintains my split ends between cuts. I love it!

Conclusion
This item on Avons website is £5.50 for 30ml but it’s usually on offer for around £3 in the brochures you get from the Avon Representatives. If you suffer from split ends, fly away hair or dry hair, this is the product for you. With the price tag, how could you not?

Do you use this product? What are your opinions on it? Do you use any other serums? Tell me what you think! Thanks for reading x
