The Jekyll & Hyde Birmingham

This is a bit different from the usual posts I do, but I was so impressed with this little bar I felt it needed a shout out. So it was one of the girls at work birthday last weekend and we decided to go to a cocktail bar in Birmingham City Centre. We looked at alot of bars, but this one really stood out to us. The Jekyll & Hyde bar in Birmingham is so unique. It has a quirky theme with a lovely Alice in Wonderland themed courtyard. It’s located in the Culmore business district which is just a five minute walk away from Snow Hill train station. This bar offers a wide range of drinks, from the classic G&T to a cocktail menu of inventive concoctions – served alongside a fresh, homemade food menu.

Living up to its name, the bar has two personalities. Mr Hyde is the main bar where you will find cocktails in jam jars and quirky cocktails. One I saw was called the heisenburg which for all you breaking bad lovers out there is Mr White’s alter ego! It was served in a Erlenmeyer flasks, with a test tube rack to drunk from with a funnel to pour! How inventive! Mr Jekyll is the upstairs room where there are over 80 different gins to try from around the world and a cocktail master classes you can take with your friends.

Everyone in there was lovely too. We made loads of friends, including a local German man that worked at the children’s hospital just up the road. I felt right at home at a place I’d never been before, which doesn’t happen very often. If your in Birmingham, or you are local, i highly recommended this place. I’m yet to try the food, but from what I saw from what other people ordered it looked amazing.

The cocktails are very affordable, ranging from the £4 jam jar sized ones to the full glass at around £7 and the quirky little cocktail in a tea cup which from my memory was around £6. Sharers range from £20-30.

    • I’m getting to the age now where I don’t want to be pushed my kids bumping and grinding all over each other. I’d much rather go somewhere I can chat to my friends and actually converse with new people instead of just wearing their drink.

      • Haha I’ve always been like that! Even at uni I didn’t go clubbing much. I like to talk to people and socialise and I cannot hear people in clubs. x

  1. I love a good cocktail bar! This place looks amazing. I’ve never had a night out in Bham cause it’s just a little bit too far out, but I know quite a few people go there for short weekends. So maybe sometime I’ll try it out!

    • I love Birmingham. Full of places like this. You can get some cheap hotels right in the city centre like the Britannia hotel which is literally on the high street. Can get advanced twin rooms on a Friday for under £40.
