Glossybox May First Impressions

Hello beauties! I realise I’m a bit late with this one.. But better late then never!

This month’s box is about festive chic,so they’ve boxed all the essentials you need to prep for the balmy days ahead.

MeMeMe Enhanced Eyes Dual Ended Eye Wand

Introducing MeMeMe’s NEW, catwalk and trend-inspired dual ended eye cream wand. Designed with a two toned colour feature comprising of two complimenting shades for an effortless, quick and high impact application. It’s never been easier to create multi-tonal looks, in an instant.

I’m not one to experiment with coloured eyeshadow, but blue is a colour I have used before. I love that it is two toned so you can be creative with it.

The shade is called midnight storm. This is how the colours look. It’s very creamy so it’s easily blended. I’m looking forward to trying this out! This is a full sized pencil worth £6.95

Etre Belle Aloe Vera Ultra Moisturising Gel

Aloe Vera Ultra Moisturising Gel comes with Liposomes. Especially smoothing moisturizing gel free of fat, tightening and reviving the skin. Elasticity will be improved considerably. Etre belle is one of the few privately-managed companies of its size in the German cosmetic landscape. The Company was founded by Harry Emich more than 30 years ago, and is headquartered in the Stuttgart region, in the Southern part of Germany.

This is going to be great to use after being out in the sun. I’m constantly getting burnt being so pale, so this cooling gel is going to be great for those days spent outside! This is a full sized 40ml tube worth £15.93 which is how much the box is worth!

Zerreau Towel Off Shampoo Foam

Zerreau is a brand new concept in hair washing, allowing you to wash your hair properly but with absolutely no water required. It really cleans effectively, even removing product such as hairspray, wax or gels. Leaving you with soft clean lushious locks! Zerreau is NOT a leave in product and its NOT a dry shampoo either!

This is going to be very popular with festival goers. There is only so many times you can cover your hair in dry shampoo! I love the idea, but I have used it once and I’m not totally sure I used it right, so I’m going to give it another go before making my mind up and doing some research. This is a 70ml sample. Full size is 100ml worth £6.99

SASS Intimate Perfect Skin Concentrate

SASS Intimate Perfect Skin Concentrate has been created for women who live their life at 100%. The exfoliating Salicyclic Acid and the Fruit Enzymes help prevent ingrown hairs. The Aloe Vera soothes and hydrates, whilst the Kelisoft helps to minimise hair regrowth. A perfect mix for the perfect skin.

Product Promise

Prevent ingrown hairs
Reduce hair regrowth
Soothe post-shave

I’ve never has a problem with ingrown hairs, but I am interested in its reduced hair regrowth claims. I’ve seen this advertised lately so I’m glad I’ve received it in this month’s box! This is a 30ml sample. Full size is 100ml worth £12

Collection Cosmetics Field Day Lipstick

Step into spring with a slick on trend pastel pink across your lips, courtesy of Collections new Field Day range. With a beautiful matte finish, it’s the perfect way to update your look in seconds.

I’ve been wearing alot of pinks in the day lately so this is a welcomes addition to my collection. Though I am stepping back from matte shades, I prefer creamier shades in the summer because my lips get so dry. This shade is called Pink rose and is a full sized lipstick worth £2.99

I’m very happy with this month’s box! I would absolutely use everything. From the full sized items they all tally up to over £25 which is great value. Last months box I wasnt too excited about and everything I got didn’t get my all excited. They have won me over again! I guess every month can’t be amazing eh?

Birchbox May First Impressions

Hello beauties! I hope you’re all good. This weekend I went to the Birmingham Foodies Festival. All the food was amazing, it was such a good day. If the festival is coming anywhere near you, I highly recommend it!

This month Birchbox have had a bit of a make over. They have announced their editorial theme ‘Free Your Mind’ they have a new booklet which tells you about your products, some tutorials, competitions, new on Pick Your Sample and more! So lets get onto what I received, and what I didn’t receive also!

Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Tinted Moisturiser in Light

As skincare obsessives, there’s nothing we love more than a moisturiser with added benefits so when we heard that Caudalie had created an innovative new product combining our beloved Vinoperfect range with a little complexion coverage we were sold. The ultimate ‘all-in-one’ product, this oil-free formula not covers imperfections but cares for your skin day after day: dark spots will fade, you skin’s natural radiance will shine, and you complexion will never have looked more even!

Tinted moisturisers isn’t something i tend to use alot, as I like to have a medium to full coverage. It has a great applicator though which I’ve pictured above. Makes it easier to get the right amount out of the tube instead of having a massive blob which your not gonna use. The cream is quite thick, but soaks into your skin quite quickly. Smells quite nice too! Might have to try this for when I go to the gym. This is a 15ml sample. Full size is 40ml worth £27.

Wah London Nail Polish in Dry Throat

Demure neutrals are manicure must-haves, but for a much-needed mani shake-up, try these eye-catching polishes from WAH London, Beyond the gorgeous hues, the long-lasting formula glides on super smoothly for an ultra glossy finish and acts as the perfect starting point to our nail art adventures.

I’ve actually never heard of this brand before which is great as this is the reason I subscribe to these boxes! You might be thinking… Why is it called dry throat? It was named Dry Throat after a trip to Morocco where the designer saw desert sands everywhere. This ochre colour takes its inspiration from North Africa and the colour of dry land. It’s a lovely colour and the brush looks great. Can’t wait to try it out! This is a full sized 6.5ml polish worth £9

Parlor by Jeff Chastain Moisturising Sea Salt Spray

Beach hair is no longer reserved for long weekends. Bottling the effects of that salty air, this spray from NYC stylist Jeff Chastain offers instant volume and a tousled texture. Sweet almond extract infuses strands with softness, fullness, and brilliance, while vitamin-rich algae extract nourishes and protects the scalp. Adding to this spray’s addictive nature is the scent of ripe peach, fresh-cut grass, and white woods. All products from the line are safe for colour-treated hair and are free of sulfates, parabens, and gluten.

The first thing I like is that it’s safe for colour treated hair because i have coloured blonde hair! I’m curious about how moisturising it is because of bleaching my hair, it obviously is quite dry! I’m looking forward to trying this one out! This is a 30ml bottle, full size is 147ml worth £17

Absolution Youth Activator Mask

Wonderful things can happen when you combine effective ingredients and beautiful design. Example A is for Absolution. Certified organic, this unisex line of skincare products is an easily combined range that can be adjusted to suit the needs of your skin on any particular day. Absolution Youth Activator Mask is an intense moisturising treatment that replenishes the skin’s water and restores its natural barrier, containing young alfalfa shoot extract, which rich in proteins, vitamins, minerals and trace elements. Skin will appear more radiant, smooth and plump.

Now the weather is getting drier my skin is starting to get patchy again, so this is going to be really useful for me. The moisture is rather watery and smells quite odd, but it’s not a leave on moisturiser so the smell doesn’t stay around. This is a 15ml sample size.  Full size is 50ml worth £29

I was supposed to have a Jelly Pong Pong Bronzer too but unfortunately that was missing. I’m not one for bronzing anyway so it’s not like it will be missed! Overall I think this is an okay box. We have a wide range of products which is good. I hate just getting skin care products in boxes which you find with some subscriptions.

If you’re interested in subscribing to Birchbox, use my referral link and each of our accounts will be credited with £5 to use in the birchbox shop!

My first benefit counter experience + Haul

Hello beauties! I hope you are all well. I’ve never been one to go to make up counters and ask for help, but after my Mac Counter experience (which you can read about here!), I thought I would post about another experience of mine! So Saturday I went shopping to find a new foundation to use. I’ve been using Mac Studio Fix Fluid which I have been loving, but alas I have gotten a bit bored! So I popped down to boots with a fresh face, armed with my advantage card (triple points, yay!) and was a free agent. I didn’t have a particular make I wanted to try out to be honest, just one I’ve never tried before, foundation wise.. I had a mooch around and waited for someone to approach me. I wanted to try out some smashbox because I haven’t got any of their products in my collection, but the woman was busy with another customer.

I walked to the benefit counter where I was greeted by a lovely girl asking me if I needed any help. She sat me down and asked me what I wanted from my foundation, which was something easily buildable for nights out, nothing too cakey and a perfect match for my pale mush. But before applying my Make Up, she asked if it was alright if she removed my Make Up, which I replied that I wasn’t wearing any (except for some mascara, penciled in eyebrows and few blemishes covered up.. that doesn’t count as make up though, that’s a necessity!) she was so shocked at how amazing my skin was, which I disagreed with. My head was telling me that she was just saying this to pile me with compliments so I would buy off of her… But anyway.

She cleansed my face with their Remove It Make Up Remover which smell beautiful. After she cleansed my face she applied their Triple Performing Facial Emulsion to my face. This moisturiser hydrates, protects & comforts the skin with an oil-free, lightweight formula. She applied it to half of my face and and gave me the mirror to show the difference. To my dismay, my rosey cheeks that were burning up cause of it being a bit warm in the store had calmed down, well the one side she had applied it to had anyway. Not sure that’s because of the moisturiser or a coincidence… But I might have to purchase some of that to find out for myself!

After she had applied the moisturiser to the other half of my face she started to ask me about primers. I told her I was currently using Mac Prep + Prime (review coming soon!) she then pulled out the UKs number one selling primer The POREfessional. I’ve used this primer before and told her how much I loved it when I used it, but she still felt the need to prove to me how good it was. She took my hand and asked me to part my index finger a thumb to stretch out the skin between those two fingers. She applied it to my skin where it is quite creased and showed me how it fills in the lines. I was quite impressed to be honest.

She applied the primer to my nose and chin because that’s all I needed aparently. I thought a little under my eyes could of helped out those fine lines, but I felt her to it. So after all that prep, it was finally on to the product i actually came in for, the foundation.

She pointed me towards their Hello Flawless Oxygen WOW Brightening Foundation. This new oil-free brightening liquid foundation builds from light to medium coverage for a natural complexion. The bottle is pretty awesome too cause it gets every last drop of foundation out of the tube. I hate when you have finished a foundation off but you have loads of excess foundation you can’t get your hands on! This is similar design to No7 foundations. It’s also 25 SPF which is great for me because as soon as I see sun I’m burnt. We together chose ivory as my shade and she applied my foundation while having a chat about my plans for the bank holiday.  She finished my foundation off and showed me how it looked. I’m used to a full coverage because I’m quite conscious of my freckles and blotchy skin, but my face actually looked brighter and fresher! I was shocked my skin could look this good without a full coverage. I asked if it was easily buildable to a full coverage and she said it was. She asked me if I wanted her to apply more, but i was overjoyed with my new glowing look. Full review is available here!

So after I stopped starring in the mirror, she stated talking to me about powders. I told her I was currently using Rimmel London Stay Matte Pressed Powder and that it had been a staple in my makeup bag for a long time. She introduced me to Hello Flawless Pressed Powder and I immediately fell in love with the packaging. The one thing that I always thought would make the rimmel Pressed Powder better was for it to be portable with a mirror. This is just the thing I needed for on the go touch ups. This silky powder cover-up glides on naturally sheer and layers beautifully for customised coverage with SPF protection.

It also has a sponge and brush underneath the powder which just flips up and a handy little mirror. Benefits packaging always gets me excited. Even the box it comes in I love! She picked the powder that matched my foundation and applied it on my forehead, most and chin, which are my oiliest spots on my nose.

So after applying the Pressed Powder she asked me if I wanted to look at some of their blushers, bronzes and concealers which I declined as I’m pretty happy with what I have at the moment. There wasn’t any pressure at all to buy everything she had used on me, but she politely asked if I was interested in any of the products she had used today. That’s my fear of going to a make up counter and the people forcing me to buy their products cause she’s used it. Not that has ever happened, but it’s always in the back of your head. I hate those pressure pitches.. Puts me right off. After looking at all the products she had used I picked the foundation, primer and powder!

I was impressed with the woman’s knowledge of her products and how polite she was. She never let there be any awkward silences between us which I loved as I’m rubbish at small talk! Overall a lovely experience, and I came away with some lovely products.

All together my purchased came to £76.50 which is more then I intended to buy and spend! But I’m happy to have a compact power and another primer! Let me know your experiences with makeup counters!

Urban Veda Radiance Exfoliating Facial Polish Review

Hello beauties! I hope you’re all well. I actually brought this Facial Polish with my Birchbox points. It’s features in my post What I Spent My Birchbox Points On. I currently have £30 worth of points in my account, so if you have any ideas on what I should use it towards, let me know cause I’m having alot of trouble deciding!

Naturally formulated to Ayurvedic principles to brighten and balance skin tone, our creamy Radiance Exfoliating Facial Polish gently exfoliates while antioxidant-rich superfruits support cell renewal, revealing a youthful, radiant complexion. Skin softening botanicals aid skin’s natural barrier function and infuse the epidermis with phytonutrients to guard against moisture loss and support skin elasticity.

Apply to wet face, massage using gentle circular movements, and rinse with cold water for a complexion and circulation boost.

I’ve really enjoyed using this product. I’ve been using it for a couple of months now and I’ve been loving every day! With a delicate floral scent, I found this exfoliator delightfully refreshing. I use it a couple of times a week, and it really revives my skin. This exfoliator contains microbeads which gently exfoliate the skin. It isn’t too harsh on your skin at all, which i find some exfoliators can be. After removal, the product leaves the skin feeling hydrated, clean and very smooth. It contain Ayurvedic principles, which helps brighten and boot the skin bringing your skin back to life. It also contains skin friendly ingrediants that you want in a facial polish such as Licorice, which is used to help even out your skin tone. The ingredient that I notice the most and that springs to mind is Tumeric. Tumeric is an active ingrediant in skincare that helps many things such as acne, tackling wrinkles and dry skin as well as removing dead skin,  all of which can be seen when using this. This really has been my best friend during the winter. I don’t like to use exfoliators everyday, but when my skin is in need of a boost, this is the product I reach out for!

Would I use this again? Defiantly! It’s so cheap at £8.99 for a 125ml tube which lasts ages by the way! You only need a pea size to get to work on your face! I’m really ibtreeged by this brand now and look forward to trying some of their other products! You can check out their website here, along with this amazing product!
