My first benefit counter experience + Haul

Hello beauties! I hope you are all well. I’ve never been one to go to make up counters and ask for help, but after my Mac Counter experience (which you can read about here!), I thought I would post about another experience of mine! So Saturday I went shopping to find a new foundation to use. I’ve been using Mac Studio Fix Fluid which I have been loving, but alas I have gotten a bit bored! So I popped down to boots with a fresh face, armed with my advantage card (triple points, yay!) and was a free agent. I didn’t have a particular make I wanted to try out to be honest, just one I’ve never tried before, foundation wise.. I had a mooch around and waited for someone to approach me. I wanted to try out some smashbox because I haven’t got any of their products in my collection, but the woman was busy with another customer.

I walked to the benefit counter where I was greeted by a lovely girl asking me if I needed any help. She sat me down and asked me what I wanted from my foundation, which was something easily buildable for nights out, nothing too cakey and a perfect match for my pale mush. But before applying my Make Up, she asked if it was alright if she removed my Make Up, which I replied that I wasn’t wearing any (except for some mascara, penciled in eyebrows and few blemishes covered up.. that doesn’t count as make up though, that’s a necessity!) she was so shocked at how amazing my skin was, which I disagreed with. My head was telling me that she was just saying this to pile me with compliments so I would buy off of her… But anyway.

She cleansed my face with their Remove It Make Up Remover which smell beautiful. After she cleansed my face she applied their Triple Performing Facial Emulsion to my face. This moisturiser hydrates, protects & comforts the skin with an oil-free, lightweight formula. She applied it to half of my face and and gave me the mirror to show the difference. To my dismay, my rosey cheeks that were burning up cause of it being a bit warm in the store had calmed down, well the one side she had applied it to had anyway. Not sure that’s because of the moisturiser or a coincidence… But I might have to purchase some of that to find out for myself!

image

After she had applied the moisturiser to the other half of my face she started to ask me about primers. I told her I was currently using Mac Prep + Prime (review coming soon!) she then pulled out the UKs number one selling primer The POREfessional. I’ve used this primer before and told her how much I loved it when I used it, but she still felt the need to prove to me how good it was. She took my hand and asked me to part my index finger a thumb to stretch out the skin between those two fingers. She applied it to my skin where it is quite creased and showed me how it fills in the lines. I was quite impressed to be honest.

She applied the primer to my nose and chin because that’s all I needed aparently. I thought a little under my eyes could of helped out those fine lines, but I felt her to it. So after all that prep, it was finally on to the product i actually came in for, the foundation.

image

She pointed me towards their Hello Flawless Oxygen WOW Brightening Foundation. This new oil-free brightening liquid foundation builds from light to medium coverage for a natural complexion. The bottle is pretty awesome too cause it gets every last drop of foundation out of the tube. I hate when you have finished a foundation off but you have loads of excess foundation you can’t get your hands on! This is similar design to No7 foundations. It’s also 25 SPF which is great for me because as soon as I see sun I’m burnt. We together chose ivory as my shade and she applied my foundation while having a chat about my plans for the bank holiday.  She finished my foundation off and showed me how it looked. I’m used to a full coverage because I’m quite conscious of my freckles and blotchy skin, but my face actually looked brighter and fresher! I was shocked my skin could look this good without a full coverage. I asked if it was easily buildable to a full coverage and she said it was. She asked me if I wanted her to apply more, but i was overjoyed with my new glowing look. Full review is available here!

So after I stopped starring in the mirror, she stated talking to me about powders. I told her I was currently using Rimmel London Stay Matte Pressed Powder and that it had been a staple in my makeup bag for a long time. She introduced me to Hello Flawless Pressed Powder and I immediately fell in love with the packaging. The one thing that I always thought would make the rimmel Pressed Powder better was for it to be portable with a mirror. This is just the thing I needed for on the go touch ups. This silky powder cover-up glides on naturally sheer and layers beautifully for customised coverage with SPF protection.

It also has a sponge and brush underneath the powder which just flips up and a handy little mirror. Benefits packaging always gets me excited. Even the box it comes in I love! She picked the powder that matched my foundation and applied it on my forehead, most and chin, which are my oiliest spots on my nose.

So after applying the Pressed Powder she asked me if I wanted to look at some of their blushers, bronzes and concealers which I declined as I’m pretty happy with what I have at the moment. There wasn’t any pressure at all to buy everything she had used on me, but she politely asked if I was interested in any of the products she had used today. That’s my fear of going to a make up counter and the people forcing me to buy their products cause she’s used it. Not that has ever happened, but it’s always in the back of your head. I hate those pressure pitches.. Puts me right off. After looking at all the products she had used I picked the foundation, primer and powder!

image

I was impressed with the woman’s knowledge of her products and how polite she was. She never let there be any awkward silences between us which I loved as I’m rubbish at small talk! Overall a lovely experience, and I came away with some lovely products.

All together my purchased came to £76.50 which is more then I intended to buy and spend! But I’m happy to have a compact power and another primer! Let me know your experiences with makeup counters!

My Poundland Mini Haul

Hello beauties! I hope you’re all well. I don’t go into any Poundshop very much to be honest, but I’ve got into knitting lately! I was told that Poundland have some wool in at the moment so I popped in and saw that they had a make up stand!

image

So the brand is called MakeUp Gallery, which I haven’t heard of before, but you can check out their range here. Everything is a pound as you can probably guess!

image

The polish on the left is called Purple Sheen, and the one on the right is called Latte.

image

The polish on the left is a Top & Base Coat, and the one on the right is a Nail Hardener.

I’ve quickly tried the latte polish and i must say, I am very impressed with how opaque it is! I can’t wait to try them all out properly. I was quite impressed with how many shades were available! I’d of brought more but wanted to try these two out first before splurging… Even though they are only a pound each!

Reviews will be available soon!

Have you tried anything from MakeUp Gallery? What did you think? Have you tried their nail polishes? Let me know!

Superdrug Haul

Hello beauties! I hope you’re all well. So I took a trip to the shopping centre and I couldn’t help but pass Superdrug and take a look at some stuff! It seems I can’t pass a superdrug without buying something…

image

I’ve been hearing alot of good things about superdrugs own brand skincare product so I thought I would take a look. Good thing is, if you don’t like the product or you have a reaction, you can just take it back for a refund! And while passing I chucked a few (alot) of nail polishes in my basket to try!

MUA Nail Polish

image

The same great product in a brand new bottle! Maximum impact nails with an intense colour, use 2 coats. Make Up Academy provides trend shades on a budget, allowing you to achieve the latest looks without breaking the bank!

So these caught my eye because… Well they were £1 to start off with! But i love the vibrant colours that are available too. I’m never gona expect alot from a nail varnish that’d £1 but MUA might surprise me here! From left to right we have Truffle Cream, Sweet Peach, Orchid, Ultramarine and Pitch Black. They are pretty small bottles, it doesn’t say the volume of the nail polish, but i would guess about 7ml. I’ll get around to using these soon as let you know how they are!

Revolution Nail Polish

image

I’d love to be able to tell you more about what Revolution say about this nail varnish.. Unless they have changed the packaging of them.. I can’t find then anywhere!…. Or they are so new they aren’t on the Internet… Anyway.. I only got two because I had so many of the MUA polishes. These again were £1 which again, is what drew me to them! From left to right they are Luxury Cream and Adore. I’m excited to try the white out because it’s hard to find a good flat white.

Avon Haul

Hello beauties! Sorry I’ve been away for a while. As some of you may know, my email was hacked into and they tried to take over my social media. Fortunately, I get a text when someone tries to access my accounts from other computers/phones and I have to enter the code they text me for them to log in, but the same cannot be said for WordPress! I don’t know if it was malicious or just someone bored, but I finally got back into my emails after alot of work and now I have my blog back! Unfortunately, my posts that were set to publish and my drafts have disappeared.. I have alot of work to do to get some posts up so please bare with me! I hope you can forgive my absence..

image

So I haven’t had an Avon order for a while! I felt like I was just ordering things for the sake of it (we all do it!) so I decided to tell my rep that I was taking a break! So after a couple of months off, another brochure popped through my letter box and this is what I got!

Clearskin Pore Penetrating Black Mineral Mask

image

Effective oil absorbing mask. Acts like a magnet to pull out pore clogging dirt and help leave skin feel perfectly clean and clear. With witch hazel and mineral clays. The mask transforms from black to light grey when ready to rinse.

This really interested me reading the description, and it’s black too! You can never have too many masks I say! I don’t have a massive problem with blackheads, but sometimes I will have an outbreak on my nose. This will come in useful when that happens again! This is a 75ml tube. Full price is £5 but it was on offer in my brochure for £3, bargain!

Avon MagiX Multi Benefit Illuminator

image

image

Liquid highlighter, formulated with special light reflecting particles to give skin a radiant and illuminated appearance. With HD Finish Complex to blur the appearance of pores, lines and imperfections.

I was meant to do a post on this that was actually in my drafts I was working on (thanks hacker!) but I’ve had this illuminator before and I LOVED it! Sorry about the crappy pictures, lighting was terrible! I got this in a 2 for £10 offer which I couldn’t refuse! Full review available here.

Advanced Techniques Morrocan Argan Oil

image

Nourishing serum suitable for all hair types and for use on wet or dry hair. Instant shine, smooth finish. Weightless movement and leaves no residue*. With Argan Oil and vitamin E.

You guys know I’m no stranger to this oil! I can never be apart from it! I did a full review on this product here you can check out. This oil is so thick and rich that it keeps my hair feeling soft and healthy for longer! This is a 30ml jar retailed at £5.50 but I stole it for £2.99!

So that’s all my Avon products! I’m currently looking through the new brochure now, so there will most likely be another post soon with another haul!

Have you tried any of these products before? What did you think? What have you ordered from Avon lately? Let me know!

The Body Shop Haul

Hello beauties! I hope you’re all going well. I haven’t actually brought anything from The Body Shop for a while now because I wanted to try out some other brands, since I was getting a little over the top on my reviews it their products! But they are back! I kept getting emails saying they had offers on, and I couldn’t take it any longer!

image

I also got talked into getting their loyalty card too which id never really been interested in as I only ever really shop with them when they have offers on. I’d always been under the assumption that you couldn’t use the card with an offer, but aparently you can! Or so said the sales assistant…

Warming Mineral Mask

image

This cleansing mask for all skin types warms on contact with wet skin. It leaves skin clean and revitalised.

I actually got this as a free gift when I signed up for the loyalty card. Can’t complain about that since its worth £10. I was actually in the market for a new face mask anyway and I haven’t experimented much with self heating ones except for the Soap & Glory No Clogs Allowed Super Self-Heating Deep Pore Detox Mask.. Why do Soap & Glory products have such long names.. What a mouth full!

Vitamin E Gentle Facial Wash

image

A gentle facial wash that lathers on the skin to leave it feeling clean, soft and refreshed

I needed something gentle because I keep breaking out in random spots. I’ve never really had sensitive skin, or been prone to spots.. But lately I’ve been breaking out more then usual. This is a 100ml tube for £8.50. This is one of the body shops best selling products so I’m very excited to give it a go!

Vitamin E Cream Exfoliator

image

A light and creamy facial scrub to gently exfoliate without irritating the skin, leaving it feeling smooth, soft and refined.

So as you can probably tell I’m sticking with the Vitamin E theme! I find that when you use products from the same range they work better with skincare. This 75ml tube is £10. Full review available here.

Vitamin E Sink In Moisture Mask

image

Sink some antioxidant Vitamin E into your skin. Bring skin back to optimum moisture level with this intensely hydrating mask.

I’m having trouble lately with dry skin, so a hydrating mask was definitely what i wanted to leave with. This is a 100ml tub for £13. Full review of this product is available here.

I got all of this in a 3 for 2 offer which totaled to £25.70 (including the loyalty card which is £5) which is pretty good! I only ever shop with bodyshop when they have offers on because I think some products are a little expensive. But they have them on all the time which is awesome!

Their Love Your Body card gives you 10% off your purchases for a year and gains you access to their exclusive members only events and perks throughout the year, including a special birthday present and sneak previews of new products.

Reviews of these items will be up when I’ve had a chance to get to them!

Have you shopped in the body shop lately? What did you get? Have you used anything I got? Let me know!

Did you get anything in the Boots Sale?

Selfridges Haul

I wasn’t going to do anymore shopping.. But I saw someone post that they had a delivery from Selfridges and it instantly made me want to have a look to see what they had on offer…

image

Some of their items were just a couple of pounds off, but I’ve never seen Mac really have a sale so I grabbed a few things since it was on sale (if you know where/when Mac have a sale let me know!) but one item, I just had to snatch up..

Azature Lilac Diamond Nail Polish

image

In conjunction with the launch of Azature Black Diamond Nail Polish – the most expensive nail polish in the world – Azature has created a more affordable taste of luxury with this nail polish containing real diamonds. This shade offers added sparkle at a fraction of the price.

I only brought this because it was £3 from £17 I think.. It’s a lovely colour. I really wanted the black too but that was sold out. I’ve never used any Azature products so it’s a great opportunity to try something new. It’s a lovely designed bottle, can’t wait to try it out!

Mac Red Russian Matte Lipstick

image

Colour plus texture for the lips. Stands out on the runway. Simmers on the street! The lipstick that made M·A·C famous.

I’ve been lusting over this for a while now. I was gonna get it a while ago, but the queue in my local Mac counter was so long I couldn’t be bothered to wait, but I’m glad I did wait since I got a couple of quid of the usual price!

Mac Prep + Prime Fix +

image

A lightweight, mineral rich finishing mist that refreshes the skin and finishes makeup. Helps create an even surface for a smooth make-up application. Same Fix + formula with upgraded packaging.

This is another product I’ve been lusting after. I was gonna use up all my Avon setting spray before buying this, but I think it will be a good opportunity to do a high street vs high end post! I love the box for this too, so sparkly!

Illamasque Multi Facet Palette Eyeshadow Set

image

image

Illamasqua’s Multi Facet eyeshadow Palette is housed in a sleek, mirrored compact for your convenience. Complete with a mini double ended angled and blending brush, this set features 8 ‘must have’ shades to complete a full variety of eye and cheek looks.

This was a bit of an impulse purchase. It was supposed to be £45 but it was on sale for £22.50. I’ve heard alot about Illamasque but never actually tried any of their products. I’m really into these face palette at the moment. So convenient to pop in hour handbag which a lovely large mirror. This palette includes a highlighter, blush and some Eyeshadow.

I’m so happy with this haul. I got a lot of products I’ve been lusting after, as well as some new products and brands to try out! I’ve never actually brought anything from the actual Selfridges website, but I’m gonna keep more of an eye out for their sales to get some more deals! I missed out on a few things I’d of loved to try.
