I brought this a while ago in a 3 for 2 offer because my revlon Photoready Perfecting Primer was running out. I haven’t actually came across any reviews of this yet so I thought I would knock one out for you guys!

Review
My skin seems to have changed a lot lately. I have combination skin, so it tends to go from one extreme to the next. At the moment it’s really dry. I’ve had a couple of break outs which is really starting to annoy me. I’ve stopped using alot of skincare products to try and sort it out. Sometimes I think using too many products can make your skin worse. So while I’m going through this change, this primer has been the perfect partner in crime.

image

This primer comes in a squeeze tube, which I don’t really like because it’s not very sanitary, but that’s the only thing I don’t like about it. The thing I love about this primer is that it doesn’t have that silicon feel like alot of primers. It’s so creamy and moisturising, it really packs a punch on my dry areas. It’s not greasy at all which is what I hate about alot of primers. It leaves my skin feeling totally smooth, the perfect canvas for my foundation! What’s even more impressive is that even though this primer is super hydrating, it really does leave you with a matte finish! I usually let this primer settle into my face for about 5 minutes until I apply the rest of my makeup. The only reason I do this is because I feel my skin feels even softer if I just let it stettle, not because it’s greasy at all. Even around my blemished areas, it seems to help my foundation mask the flakey and red areas.
It keeps my slightly oilier areas of my face at bay too. For some reason, the foundation around my nose always seems to shift (if you know why, please tell me!). It becomes patchy and the skin on my chin would become dry and flakey. But with this, it stays put. It keeps the dry areas of my face moisturised, and the oily parts of my face mattified. A pretty impressive all round product! Because this primer is quite creamy and thick, it does a brilliant job at filling those annoying pores I have on my nose.

Conclusion
Considering my own skin, I’m not too sure how it would suffice with people that have very oily skin, because of it being so hydrating. But if you have dry skin with slight oily parts, or one or the other, this will be great for you. One thing that annoys me about makeup brands is  that they boast about their products too much. I didn’t see any evidence of Brightening or Projecting. But it does everything I expect it to from a primer, so that doesn’t overly bother me.

Revlon Photoready Perfecting Primer Review

Hello beauties! Hope you are doing well. I’ve slowed down lately on the posts because I just haven’t had time, even with having a week off of work! Gonna try and make more time to post regularly again then just every 4 days like it’s been now! I brought this in my Revlon Haul and I’ve been using this primer for about a month now, and this is what I think about it.

image

Primes and smoothes the skin to create a perfect canvas. Reduces the appearance of pores and fine lines. Evens out skin’s texture. Can be worn alone or under foundation

Application
Primer can be worn alone or under foundation to create a smooth, even canvas. Apply primer after moisturizer and before makeup to fill in fine lines and pores and to prep for foundation application.

Review
Primers are so important for me. I have fine lines, pores and I work full time. So having a primer that can fill my pores and lines, and help it last all day is a big thing for me, and I think for alot of other people. The pump dispenser is really handy and hygienic. You only need one pump to cover your face. I was scared that with how white the primer is, that it would make me look paler then I am, but thankfully it didn’t. It is quite thick, but if you use it sparingly it’s fine. My skin is left with a matte look and silky to the touch. It isn’t a silicon based primer which I find can dry out your skin, this one moisturises my skin as well as leaving it with a matte finish. When applying my foundation, it’s the perfect base. It makes my foundation look flawless.
As for filling my pores and lines, I found that my not so problematic areas it perfected, but where I have issues with pores and lines it only blurred them. I’ve tried the same foundation with this and also without, and it does make it last a couple of hours longer. After those hours though I have noticed slight slips around my nose and on my chin. As well as pores, I suffer from spider veins around my nose which is the main reason for me wearing foundation. I’ve found since wearing this primer, I’ve been wearing alot less foundation to cover this problematic area. I’ve also had one of those horrible under the skin spots on my chin, which we all know makes your skin red. I didn’t even need any cover up on it which I was really surprised at. My skin is both oily and dry and it can be hard to find a primer that suits both. I try to avoid silicon primers now because of the dry areas of my face, which thankfully this isn’t. This moisturises the dryness, without irritating the oily parts of my face.

Conclusion
This primer retails at £11.99. It isn’t perfect, but it really is quite a good primer! You get 27ml of product for you money which has lasted me a while now. The thing I like about this is that it’s perfect for any skin type oily, dry or combination. Would I buy this again? Definitely if I was in a rush and needed to run in and out of the drugstore. But the thing about being a beauty blogger, you always want to try the next product! This primer has definitely made me want to stay away from the silicon primers though.

Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser Review

Hello beauties! So I’ve been using this primer for quite some time now, and I though you to myself, why haven’t I done a review on this yet? Well now it’s here!

image

Maybelline Baby Skin provides a matte finish and leaves the skin fresh, soft and protected. The gel texture in Baby Skin instantly helps to vanish pores and makes the skin feel light. It avoids a shine on the skin and makes the skin feel soft. Bye bye pores!

Application
Apply alone or under make-up. Take a small amount of Baby Skin Pore Eraser on your finger tips and apply evenly to the required face area. If applying makeup, wait until Baby Skin Pore Eraser is set.

Review
This is a clear primer which leaves your skin silky smooth ready for your make up. It’s lasted me around 2 months now,  and it’s still going. It’s not the best primer I have used, but it’s cracking for a drugstore primer. It doesn’t do much for my fine lines, but it keeps my make up in place. Although it is a pore primer, I think the benefits POREfessional does a better job at hiding my pores, but it’s not bad. Is it me, or is the name of the primer just a bit creepy though? Baby Skin? Really? It might be just me but I think it sounds wrong.

Conclusion
Would I buy this again? Probably not. Not that’s it’s not a great primer, It is. But I’m always on the prowl for the next best thing, and I haven’t found one better then the POREfessional primer yet. I have a couple from my beauty swap to try out too and one I brought in my Revolution Haul.

What’s your favourite primer? Have you tried this one? What did you think? Let me know!

Review: Absolute New York Perfecting Eyeshadow Primer

I received this in my July Glossybox. Id never heard of this brand before so I was excited to try this out. Ive tried cream primers for my Eyeshadow, but recently I’ve been using a powdered primer.

image

Application
Apply the primer in a thin layer gently on the eyelid and smudge it slightly. You can then make up your eye area as usual.

Review
So I’ve been using this primer for a couple of weeks now and I’ve been loving it. I’m not really into the application of this, but after smudging it in and patting it down, making it even it’s a really nice Base your my Eyeshadow. I haven’t had any problems with creasing, Eyeshadow rubbing off, sweating offer, anything. It’s really nice too to use to blend colours together. I can’t believe what I’ve been missing out from my powder primer.

Conclusion
As this is an American beauty product, it’s probably not gonna be something in gonna repurchase. But I have certainly been turned back to the cream Eyeshadow primers!

Did you receive this item? What did you think about it? Do you use any other types of Eyeshadow primers? Let me know!

Review: Benefit The POREfessional

I received this in my July Birchbox. I’m always happy to receive benefit product. So when I opened up my bag and saw this, my face lit up. I’ve wanted to try it for ages but could never justify the full price label. This primer has won many awards, which always bodes well!

Quickly minimise the appearance of pores with Benefit The POREfessional PRO Balm Primer! Apply this silky, lightweight balm for translucent pore coverage and smoother-than-smooth skin. Pores… now you see ’em, now you don’t!

image

This primer has a tint to it, which I like because you can use it over your make up, as well as under.

image

Application
Apply the POREfessional from the centre of the face outward by patting lightly with fingertips…pay particular attention to the T-zone area. Keep it in your bag for touch-ups during the day.

Review
I’m quite impressed with this little primer. It really did minimise my pores! I have a problem with pores on my nose, and I’m still trying to battle to get them to shrink. But while my battle continues, this little gem is helping me out while I’m getting there! It’s non oily and doesn’t look shiny after you’ve put it on. One thing I am a bit dissapointed in is that it doesn’t really seem to be filling my fine lines, which is a bit annoying.. Otherwise, this is a great product. It goes on like a dream, makes my skin feel silky smooth and makes my make up stay put most importantly! I like that the formula is tinted too, so it can be applied over make up for a quick touch up if you get a bit shiny. Gotta love products that are multi functional!

Conclusion
I’ll most likely be buying the full size of this. The one thing that I did mention though I was dissapointed in was that it didn’t fill my fine lines. If anyone has any hints or tips to resolve this I would be grateful for the advice! Otherwise, a cracking product. I’ve got to add too, when I’ve read some reviews on this, some people have been complaining that it doesn’t reduce there pores. This item doesn’t reduce pores it minimises  the look of pores!

You can buy the full size of this product for £24.50 here.

Review: The Body Shop Skin Primer Matte It

image

This primer for normal and oily skins creates a smooth base for foundation. It has been designed to deter shine and make make-up last longer.

I brought this in my Body shop Haul. I’ve never really tried any Body Shop make up so I thought I would try this. Primers make the surface of your face smooth so when you put foundation, Concealer or powder on it starts on a even surface. I find primers useful for expression lines and fine lines around my eyes and the large pours on my nose. No one likes there make up to settle in these crevices. Make up tends to adhere better and last longer when using a primer. Whether your skin is oily or dry, acne-prone or sensitive, you can use a primer, since the moisture it imparts comes via silicone, not oil.

Application
Smooth onto skin before applying foundation.

Review
This is the first time I’ve used body shop make up and i wasn’t disappointed. The primer itself is clear and thin. You only need a small amount for your whole face. It’s gel based and feels siliconey on your skin but it sinks into your skin and doesn’t sit on top. It doesn’t make my face feel sticky to the touch which I have found with other primers. It leaves my skin feeling silky smooth ready for my foundation. My foundation goes on noticeably better with this primer on. I would definitely say that this primer helps my makeup stay put and keeps my shin at bay. I like the packaging. The clear tube let’s you see how much product you have left. The Matte aspect is good. It’s not the best I’ve used for a Matte finish but it’s okay for an everyday primer.

Conclusion
For an everyday primer it’s pretty good. For £12 it’s good value. You don’t want to be using a primer that costs around £30 for everyday use. Save that for special occasions! It’s perfect for work and for me personally worked a treat. I mean i still touched up a little at dinner and when I left for work if I was going out after but I feel confident that I don’t need to run to the toilets during the work day to check that I’m not shiny. Would I repurchase this again? Considering how long it’s lasted me I would! I’d still keep my Mac primer for special occasions but for everyday it’s perfect.
