NOTD: my first attempt at nail art

I’ve never been one for nail art. Mostly because I’ve never actually brought any nail art equipment to experiment with.  But I got a Seventeen Nail Clash Collection so I thought I would give it a try!

I started with my Azature Lilac Diamond Nail Polish as a Base coat and then painted on the black triangles with my black nail art pen, and then outlined with the white nail art pen, both from my Seventeen Nail Clash Collection set. I was surprised how easy i found it to do! I really want to get some Barry M nail art pens so I can do more detailed patterns, as the ones I have at the moment are brushes. If anyone has used them let me know what you think! My Amazon basket is currently full of nail art equipment so I’ll be experimenting alot more!

And the winner is…..

So as most of you know I have been doing a Benefit Cosmetic Giveaway to celebrate reaching 200 followers. So I’ve put everyone’s name into a randomizer and I can now reveal the winner is….

Congratulations! I’ll contact you shortly to sort out everything… But now I am going to bed!

Thank you to everyone who entered. I’ve loved hearing from you all and hope to make some good friends out of my new followers 🙂

Sweet Strawberry Yankee Candle

I’ve never brought a Yankee candle before. I love candles, but I’ve always thought Yankee candles were rather overpriced. The only interaction I’ve had with this brand before was in a card shop that sells them local to me. But now, a whole shop full have popped up! They were having a promotional offer for the store launch, so I thought I would take the plunge and buy one, since they were on offer!

I smelt a few, and to be honest they didn’t have a massive range! I don’t know if it’s because they have been so popular on promotion, or that’s there usual range, but this is the only one that caught my eye, and nose!

It really does smell strawberries! I don’t really notice the smell to be honest when I’ve burnt it in my room, but when I leave and come back I can certainly smell it. I’ve had it burning a couple of hours every night for neatly two weeks and it hasn’t gone down too much. I love the jar too. I’m planning on using it when it’s burnt out for my make up brushes. Still looking for ways to organise my make up!

The only thing that’s miffed me a bit is that it doesn’t burn very evenly. I feel like a bit of product is being wasted just stuck to the sides. I don’t know if it’s because the jar is so large that it can’t get to the sides?

Then, as if the candle had seen me type this… The next night, it leveled out! Maybe it’s because I burnt it for longer… Or the flame was reaching the sides to melt the wax… I don’t know!

Overall I’m happy with my purchase, I don’t think i would buy a full sized one at full price (£20 for 22oz) but if they are on offer I’d be willing to have a nose, hopefully they will have more to choose from next time!

Are you a Yankee candle fan? What’s your favourite scent? Let me know!

My mission to tidy up my make up collection.

Hello beauties! So if you’d of read my blog How do you organise your make up? You would of seen I was in the market for some storage draws. Nothing fancy. Something cheap.

If got these from B&M. Not a shop I’ve been too before, but I went to quite a few places and could fine any! But alas I have some. It’s really helped me out. They were £14.99 which I think is a bargain. Or you can get 2 for £25. But I felt I only needed one.

So they pretty much all look like this! Full already! Each draw I have different products in. One with make up, one with hair products, one skin products and one with nail polishes and perfumes.

This has really helped me get rid of the clutter in my room, and has helped me get rid of a whole bunch of things that I haven’t used in a long time. My room looks so much more spacious now and I actually can see the tops of my chest of draws now! I’d highly recommend these If you have storage issues!

My Benefit Cosmetic Giveaway!

***this giveaway has now ended***

Firstly I just want to thank each and every one of my followers. Especially the people that I now consider friends within this amazing little community we have here! It’s nice to feel apart of something and feel appreciated for what you do. I didn’t realise when I started this blog in May that I would have the reaction I’ve had. It started out as something to do while I was going through a rough time, now it’s something I look forward to doing.

Some of you may know that a couple of weeks ago, I said that when I reached 200 followers that i would do a giveaway. I’ve been racking my brain to try and think of a product that everyone would like… But then I thought, why not let them choose? As benefits is a big brand that everyone loves with amazing quality items, I thought i would choose this one. I know sometimes there items can be a bit expensive for what they seem, so I know some people are put off buying them, like I was before I took my first plunge.

So what’s the deal?

I’ve set a £30 minimum for the winner, and it also has to be available in the UK. Obviously! It can’t be anything that contains alcohol (perfumes, nail varnish ect) because it cannot be shipped due to it being flammable. I will ship internationally, so anyone can join in. This giveaway will be run until Sunday 21st September. The winner will be picked randomly and announced Monday afternoon.

So how do you enter?

All you have to do is:
× Follow my blog so you can keep up with the giveaway to see if you have won
× Reblog this post. This bit is important so I can keep track of who’s joined in.
× Comment this post (not a reblogged post, the original!) telling me what you would like to try by benefits if you were to win and why.

Good Luck!

Switching To Sulphate Free Shampoo – Week 1

I found this so interesting i had to reblog it. Everyone needs to know this! Next time i’m out shopping i’m looking at the labels!

Last Friday, I purchased The Body Shop’s Rainforest Radiance Shampoo and Conditioner. Before buying them I did my research and I found that sulphate is a strong cleaning chemical which is used in many industrial products, such as car shampoo, engine degreaser and floor cleaners. Ew. It’s also completely synthetic and is usually in the form of Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS). It is what causes your shampoo to lather and go all bubbly. Because it is a harsh synthetic compound it strips out hair colour, can irritate the skin, leaves the scalp dry, can cause hair breakage, causes frizziness and can cause hair to go grey earlier! So really, why would you want to use this on your hair?

How can you tell if your shampoo contains sulphates? It’s simple, all you need to do is check the ingredients! Generally, the second ingredient on the list is a sulfate…
