Hello beauties! So this month’s Birchbox surprised me a bit! It came in a red envelope. I thought to myself “did I forgot I ordered something!” and to my surprise it was my Birchbox! Minus the box… So a Birchbag!

image

This month’s goodies came in a splash proof clutch which is ideal to take with you on holiday poolside to keep all your essentials safe and dry! So lets get on to what was inside the Birchbag!

Cowshed Cow Pat Hand Cream

image

Restore softness to neglected hands with our moisturising hand cream.
Our Cow Pat Hand Cream restores softness to the hands with the finest quality Shea and Cocoa Butters to deeply moisturise and tone the skin. Refreshingly scented and quickly absorbed,  Grapefruit Oil tones whilst Coriander Oil kick starts your circulation.

I love it whenever I get sent cowshed products! This moisturiser is so nice. It soaks into your skin so quickly which is amazing, and it smells pretty good too! The cream is quite thick which is nice, which helps with the drying time. I hate it when creams are thick because I hate waiting around for them to dry. It’s a pretty good 50ml sample size too! I though it was full size until I checked out and the actual full size is 30ml which retails at £18! Seems like alot (size wise not price!) .. But it’s that good I’d probably get through it quickly!

Balance Me Congested Skin Serum

image

This calming, anti-blemish treatment contains soothing Roman chamomile, anti-bacterial may chang, calming lavender and eucalyptus in a light, non-greasy petroleum free gel. This instant treatment benefits from super soothing and cooling organic aloe vera and spruce knot to calm redness as soon as a blemish begins to show and kanuka essential oil to eliminate congestion with its gentle but powerful anti-microbial properties. Apply all over the face or directly onto a blemish to prevent and treat problem areas without drying the skin.

I’ve received quite a few Balance Me products while having these beauty boxes, and to be honest I’ve never really been blown away by anything, but this is something I haven’t tried, where as I’ve had quite a few of their eye creams which I was getting bored of! I love anything with Aloe Vera, it’s so good for your skin. The cream is very thin as you would expect a serum to be! It smells amazing. It’s packed with Chamomile, Lavender and Aloe Vera, no wonder it smells gorgeous! This is a 7ml sample size. Full size is 15ml worth £16.

Unani Aloe Vera Gel

image

We’re sticklers about wearing sunscreen – but that doesn’t mean we don’t end up with a sunburn from time to time. That’s when we turn to this ultra-hydrating lotion, packed with pure aloe vera to soothe and calm our skin. It’s naturally healing properties, and non-irritating formula, means that our sunburned skin can feel better and recover soon – plus, it’s great for other sore spots (like blemishes, eczema, and bites) as well!

I needed this last week! I burnt my next while doing some gardening. I’m usually very good with sun cream, cause I’m so pale my catch the sun so quickly, I douce myself in factor 50. But I completely forgot about my neck. This would of been amazing. But hopefully we will get more sun and I’ll be able to use this.. But at the same don’t I don’t really want to get burnt.. But Aloe Vera is great for break outs too if we don’t get any more sun! It’s a clear gel which actually doesn’t smell that much of Aloe Vera! Unless it’s just my nose, I never had the best sense of smell! This is a 30ml sample size. Not sure what the full size is, but it’s £15!

POP Beauty Eyeshadow Trio in Peach Parfait

Master your summer smokey eyes with this nifty palette. Blend all three silky shades for a perfectly pretty look or apply just your favourite for a subtle wash if colour.

I’m pretty sure this is an American brand, which annoys me because if I really like it, I can’t get any more! Without paying stupid postage obviously… But for now I’m pretty happy with this little palette. It’s nude shades which is totally me. This will definitely get some use and I’m bored of my current palettes!

Benefit Cosmetics Dream Screen

image

You can’t feel it, you can’t see it…but it’s got you totally covered. Dream screen broad spectrum SPF 45 silky-matte sunscreen is ultra lightweight and truly invisible on skin. It absorbs instantly to help prevent skin from aging by protecting against sun damage…and leaves skin feeling moisturised. Dream screen puts all other sunscreens in the shade! Oil-free. Fragrance free.

This is great for me because I need sun screen for my face because my nose burns so quickly! SPF 45 is brilliant too. I was actually looking the other day for face sun screens because I don’t actually have one…i usually just put normal stuff on which isn’t great when some are so greasy! So this is perfect for me to try out! This is a 6ml sample. Full size is 45ml worth £25.

Bonus Beauty Extra!

Barely Prep, Blot & Blend Sponge

image

Modernising make-up application is the ambition of new beauty brand Barely. And they’ve achieved it with their revolutionary range of sponges for everything from moisturiser to eye make-up. Barely, Prep, Blot & Blend Sponge is latex free, non-allergenic and odour free making it ideal for sensitive skin. Use Barely Prep, Blot & Blend Sponge to prepare skin before make-up to apply make-up remover, skincare and primer. The ovoid sponge has no edges in order to allow for products to be stippled on, leaving no lines or streaks. The pointed end can be used to apply concealer and to reach the nooks of the face such as the corners of the nose and inner corners of the eyes.

I haven’t had a sponge since my Beauty Blender was rendered useless (RIP beauty blender!) so I’m excited to try this out. I’ve actually never heard of Barley so this is a new brand I can look into. This is a full sized sponge worth £6

I’m quite happy with this lot to be honest. I’ll get use out of everything which is why we use these subscriptions! A few if the products are things I either actually need or was thinking about getting anymore, which is amazing? Are Birchbox spying on me? One thing though I wouldn’t of minded is maybe a bit more range if products, but that’s just me trying to pick faults! This is just due to most of my products being skincare. I’m so happy with this bag this week!

October Birchbox First Impressions

image

Hello beauties! I’m so behind on my beauty box posts so please forgive me. As you may have read in my previous posts I was a bridesmaid at my friends wedding and that monopolised alot of my time. This month’s box is about Working It! It’s also supported by Coppa Feel which is a charity that supports breast cancer awareness. As some of you may know it’s breast cancer awareness month, so this month’s box gives you 3 ways you can support this charity, and also gives you some advice on how you can check yourself for breast cancer. So let’s get cracking on what I received!

Balance Me Cleanse and Smooth Face Balm

image

A natural nourishing cleanser with exfoliating oatmeal powder. Perfect for normal to dry skin – but also be balanced oily skin too!

We’ve all heard of Balance Me before. I was happy to see this in my box because I haven’t actually tried any of their products out before, except for an eye cream. This is a pretty good 40ml sample. I like samples of products like this to be quite big because I can see the benefits better. As we all know, it takes your skin up to 2 weeks to accept a new product and see the benefits from using it. I’m more likely to buy a full sized item if the sample size is adequate. The balm smells quite lemony which is very appealing. It’s quite a thick formula too, so you can really work the exfoliating beads into your skin. 125ml full sized tube of this costs £20

KMS California Hair Play Dry Wax

image

A spray that adds easy to style, second day texture to your hair, with a matte finish.

This is another generous 75ml sample of this product, which is half the size of a full sized bottle. I’ve personally never used a sprayable wax. I haven’t used any sort of wax in my hair since I was younger and had shorter hair. I’m interested in seeing what styles I can work with this product. I sprayed it on my hand to see if it was sticky like wax usually is and it was, which is what puts me off using wax in my hair. Is can weigh your hair down. You can get a 150ml bottle of this for £15.

Shaveworks The Cool Fix

image

This genius cooling gel Lotion treats ingrown hairs, razor bumps and redness after hair removal.

To be honest I don’t ever get razor bumps since changing my razor to the Wilkinson Sword Intuition Razor, and I don’t use any sort of hair removal creams either. I’m not sure I’ll have any use for this, but I will try it to see if I see any improvements from using it. This is a 29ml sample which will last you a few shaves. A 60ml bottle will set you back £8.80

Pixi by Petra Shea Butter Lip Balm

image

A full size nourishing lip balm packed with shea butter, plus a hint of colour!

Now it’s getting colder this is the perfect thing to be receiving in your beauty subscriptions. My lips are getting a bit dryer with the weather change so I look forward to trying this out. I love lip care products with a colour to them too! This is a full sized item worth £8

Meaningful Beauty Glowing Serum

image

A sumptuous radiance enhancing, anti aging serum from Dr Sebagh and Cindy Crawford.

This is a pretty good 8ml sample of this serum. I always complain, and I will never stop, when I get sent tiny tiny sampled of skin products. But I’m happy with this size. As you know, serums can go a long way so I feel I’m gonna get my use out of this one. I have so many serums and creams to use up though, I feel I won’t get to this for a while. That’s the thing about having multiple beauty subscriptions… Never getting around to everything! This serum has a pump action which is very useful. A full sized 15ml bottle will set you back £30.95…this sample seems pretty good now don’t you think?

Lifestyle Extras

image

image

I love these little extras that birchbox give you every month. Most of the time they are quite useful. I have to say though, the little make up bag is going to be so useful to me. I always have make up in the bottom of my bag and i always end up loosing something, so having this little lip bag is gonna save me from that! Can’t say I’ll end up using the pen however as I always end up loosing those too! I’m forever hunting around for them!

So overall I’m pretty happy with my box this month! There is a nice mixture of procure that I received. Most of them will get some use! If you’re interested in subscribing to Birchbox, use my referral link and each of our accounts will be credited with £5 to use in the birchbox shop!

What did you receive in your birchbox? Anything that you wished you had got? Let me know!

Benefit The Professional

image

An award winning primer that magically erases pores and leaked skin velvety.

I’m always happy to see any Benefits product. Even more happy that it’s a primer! I need primers for my skin because I have quite a lot of pores on my nose so this will be put to the test! The sample is a 7.5ml which should last me a while. Full price product is £24.50. Full review is available here.

Models Own Nail Polish

image

Stay on trend down to the tips of your toes with these gorgeous hard wearing nail polishes.

To be honest, I’m not that crazy about glitter nail varnish. It’s a nightmare to get off. This one is called Roman Candle. I’ll still try it out. Maybe I will love it that much I won’t care that much about how long it takes to get off? Hmm. This is a full size item at 14ml. RRP £5. Full review of this item is available here.

Whish Three Wishes Lavender Body Butter

image

Not your granny’s lavender, this week scented antioxidant rich Lotion nourishes skin.

Like I said on my last post, I have loads of body lotion to get through so I’m kind of sick of receiving them. Would like a bit more variety then a nail varnish and body lotion every week. It does smell amazing how ever. This is a 22ml sample size. Full size product is £14.50

Balance Me Wonder Eye Cream

image

A light, hard working formula to brighten the eye area and keep wrinkles at bay.

I’ve already had a sample of this before from glossybox. I did enjoy using it but It would be nice to do a review on this this time around. The last time it lasted me a while so I’m kinds glad to see this again! This is a 7ml sample. Full size is £20

LAQA &  CO Sheer Lip Lube Pencil in Menatour

image

A high gloss pencil to add a pop of sheer, nourishing and wearable colour.

Im not sure what I think about the colour to be honest. I like purple, but I’ve never tried it on my lips. I did a quick swatch..

image

It really is glossy.. And purple! I’m gonna have to try this out before I say anything because colours have surprised be before when they are applied! I’m not sure if this is full size or not but it’s a .07oz sample and the full size one is £14

Lifestyle Extra –  Filosfille 4 Sided Nail Buffer

image

Your at home DIY manicure made easy. Just add nail polish!

I have used these before and they are amazing. They make your nails super shiny. I haven’t used one is quite a while so this is a nice little extra! Priceless!

So I’m pretty pleased with this month’s box. Mostly to do with the Benefit Primer. The other items are okay. I’m kind of sick of receiving body lotion and I’ve already tried the eye cream out before. But when you have been receiving beauty boxes for as long as I have your bound to receive the same products from different boxes. I’m interested in trying out the Lip Crayon to see how it looks on. Reviews will be available soon!

If you are interested in subscribing to Birchbox, they are monthly boxes costing only £12.95 including p&p. Use this link and each of our accounts will automatically be updated with 50 birchbox points (worth £5) for each of us to spend in the Birchbox e-shop.
