Birchbox July First Impressions

Hello beauties! So this month’s Birchbox surprised me a bit! It came in a red envelope. I thought to myself “did I forgot I ordered something!” and to my surprise it was my Birchbox! Minus the box… So a Birchbag!

This month’s goodies came in a splash proof clutch which is ideal to take with you on holiday poolside to keep all your essentials safe and dry! So lets get on to what was inside the Birchbag!

Cowshed Cow Pat Hand Cream

Restore softness to neglected hands with our moisturising hand cream.
Our Cow Pat Hand Cream restores softness to the hands with the finest quality Shea and Cocoa Butters to deeply moisturise and tone the skin. Refreshingly scented and quickly absorbed,  Grapefruit Oil tones whilst Coriander Oil kick starts your circulation.

I love it whenever I get sent cowshed products! This moisturiser is so nice. It soaks into your skin so quickly which is amazing, and it smells pretty good too! The cream is quite thick which is nice, which helps with the drying time. I hate it when creams are thick because I hate waiting around for them to dry. It’s a pretty good 50ml sample size too! I though it was full size until I checked out and the actual full size is 30ml which retails at £18! Seems like alot (size wise not price!) .. But it’s that good I’d probably get through it quickly!

Balance Me Congested Skin Serum

This calming, anti-blemish treatment contains soothing Roman chamomile, anti-bacterial may chang, calming lavender and eucalyptus in a light, non-greasy petroleum free gel. This instant treatment benefits from super soothing and cooling organic aloe vera and spruce knot to calm redness as soon as a blemish begins to show and kanuka essential oil to eliminate congestion with its gentle but powerful anti-microbial properties. Apply all over the face or directly onto a blemish to prevent and treat problem areas without drying the skin.

I’ve received quite a few Balance Me products while having these beauty boxes, and to be honest I’ve never really been blown away by anything, but this is something I haven’t tried, where as I’ve had quite a few of their eye creams which I was getting bored of! I love anything with Aloe Vera, it’s so good for your skin. The cream is very thin as you would expect a serum to be! It smells amazing. It’s packed with Chamomile, Lavender and Aloe Vera, no wonder it smells gorgeous! This is a 7ml sample size. Full size is 15ml worth £16.

Unani Aloe Vera Gel

We’re sticklers about wearing sunscreen – but that doesn’t mean we don’t end up with a sunburn from time to time. That’s when we turn to this ultra-hydrating lotion, packed with pure aloe vera to soothe and calm our skin. It’s naturally healing properties, and non-irritating formula, means that our sunburned skin can feel better and recover soon – plus, it’s great for other sore spots (like blemishes, eczema, and bites) as well!

I needed this last week! I burnt my next while doing some gardening. I’m usually very good with sun cream, cause I’m so pale my catch the sun so quickly, I douce myself in factor 50. But I completely forgot about my neck. This would of been amazing. But hopefully we will get more sun and I’ll be able to use this.. But at the same don’t I don’t really want to get burnt.. But Aloe Vera is great for break outs too if we don’t get any more sun! It’s a clear gel which actually doesn’t smell that much of Aloe Vera! Unless it’s just my nose, I never had the best sense of smell! This is a 30ml sample size. Not sure what the full size is, but it’s £15!

POP Beauty Eyeshadow Trio in Peach Parfait

Master your summer smokey eyes with this nifty palette. Blend all three silky shades for a perfectly pretty look or apply just your favourite for a subtle wash if colour.

I’m pretty sure this is an American brand, which annoys me because if I really like it, I can’t get any more! Without paying stupid postage obviously… But for now I’m pretty happy with this little palette. It’s nude shades which is totally me. This will definitely get some use and I’m bored of my current palettes!

Benefit Cosmetics Dream Screen

You can’t feel it, you can’t see it…but it’s got you totally covered. Dream screen broad spectrum SPF 45 silky-matte sunscreen is ultra lightweight and truly invisible on skin. It absorbs instantly to help prevent skin from aging by protecting against sun damage…and leaves skin feeling moisturised. Dream screen puts all other sunscreens in the shade! Oil-free. Fragrance free.

This is great for me because I need sun screen for my face because my nose burns so quickly! SPF 45 is brilliant too. I was actually looking the other day for face sun screens because I don’t actually have one…i usually just put normal stuff on which isn’t great when some are so greasy! So this is perfect for me to try out! This is a 6ml sample. Full size is 45ml worth £25.

Bonus Beauty Extra!

Barely Prep, Blot & Blend Sponge

Modernising make-up application is the ambition of new beauty brand Barely. And they’ve achieved it with their revolutionary range of sponges for everything from moisturiser to eye make-up. Barely, Prep, Blot & Blend Sponge is latex free, non-allergenic and odour free making it ideal for sensitive skin. Use Barely Prep, Blot & Blend Sponge to prepare skin before make-up to apply make-up remover, skincare and primer. The ovoid sponge has no edges in order to allow for products to be stippled on, leaving no lines or streaks. The pointed end can be used to apply concealer and to reach the nooks of the face such as the corners of the nose and inner corners of the eyes.

I haven’t had a sponge since my Beauty Blender was rendered useless (RIP beauty blender!) so I’m excited to try this out. I’ve actually never heard of Barley so this is a new brand I can look into. This is a full sized sponge worth £6

I’m quite happy with this lot to be honest. I’ll get use out of everything which is why we use these subscriptions! A few if the products are things I either actually need or was thinking about getting anymore, which is amazing? Are Birchbox spying on me? One thing though I wouldn’t of minded is maybe a bit more range if products, but that’s just me trying to pick faults! This is just due to most of my products being skincare. I’m so happy with this bag this week!

Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen WOW Brightening Foundation Review

Hello beauties! I hope you’re all doing well. So I recently did a Benefit Haul which I picked up some great products, but I’m going to be talking about their Hello Flawless Oxygen WOW Brightening Foundation.

Our new oil-free brightening liquid foundation builds from light to medium coverage for a natural complexion you can believe in. It’s you…just more luminous & healthy looking.

This is completely different from my Mac Studio Fix Fluid that I’ve been using for quite a few months. It’s alot thinner in consistency and is more of a medium coverage foundation. When i first applied it to my hand, I was very surprised at how runny it was. The Mac foundation is quite thick which is great for a full coverage, but I’ve noticed how radiant my skin looks when I’ve applied it from having a medium coverage rather then a flat fuller coverage. This is great because it doesn’t look cakey in the slightest. Obviously if you do cake it on, it’s going to look cakey, but I’ve always been told, less is more!
It’s actually turned me from using foundation everyday to just pop out, but to try out a BB cream I haven’t worn for ages because I’m so used to a full coverage. I brought that BB cream ages ago and I just couldn’t bare my face without a full coverage, so it’s actually brought out my confidence a bit, thanks benefit! Because of this, my foundation Is gonna last even longer then usual! While I’m on the subject of it lasting ages, this foundation does last all day at work. Even now it’s getting a bit warmer, I only need to touch up on my dinner breaks at work, mostly due to my vanity! But i did need a touch up of powder on my more oilier areas.
The bottle is great too. It pushes out every last drop of the foundation so you aren’t left with product on the side of the bottle and you can’t get to it! I hate nothing more then having  to throw a bottle away when I can still see product on the sides. I’ve noticed that I’ve had alot less break outs since using this. It might be down to not having a fuller coverage so my skin can breath better… Or it could be a number of other things!
This foundation blends very well and covers my blemishes very well, although I don’t have many blemishes, I think for anyone with bad achey it might be a different story. It evens out my skin tone while giving me a natural glow, but not an orange glow thankfully! My natural skin just shines through. It feels like a second skin and sometimes I forget I have it on! I love how this foundation is dewy nor matte. I’m so used to matte which can dry out parts of my face, it’s a nice change!

Although I’ll always go back to my Mac Studio Fix Fluid foundation for nights out or special occasions when I require a fuller coverage, this will be a great everyday foundation for me. The only downside I see is that they only do 9 shades. Brands these days like Mac offer so many shades for that perfect match, I think other brands need to do the same! Although my match was great, I think they could definitely cater for a wider audience! This foundation is £24.50 for a 30ml bottle which is a bit pricey, but it’s worth it.

Have you tried this foundation? What did you think? Any other foundations you recommend me trying? Let me know!

My first benefit counter experience + Haul

Hello beauties! I hope you are all well. I’ve never been one to go to make up counters and ask for help, but after my Mac Counter experience (which you can read about here!), I thought I would post about another experience of mine! So Saturday I went shopping to find a new foundation to use. I’ve been using Mac Studio Fix Fluid which I have been loving, but alas I have gotten a bit bored! So I popped down to boots with a fresh face, armed with my advantage card (triple points, yay!) and was a free agent. I didn’t have a particular make I wanted to try out to be honest, just one I’ve never tried before, foundation wise.. I had a mooch around and waited for someone to approach me. I wanted to try out some smashbox because I haven’t got any of their products in my collection, but the woman was busy with another customer.

I walked to the benefit counter where I was greeted by a lovely girl asking me if I needed any help. She sat me down and asked me what I wanted from my foundation, which was something easily buildable for nights out, nothing too cakey and a perfect match for my pale mush. But before applying my Make Up, she asked if it was alright if she removed my Make Up, which I replied that I wasn’t wearing any (except for some mascara, penciled in eyebrows and few blemishes covered up.. that doesn’t count as make up though, that’s a necessity!) she was so shocked at how amazing my skin was, which I disagreed with. My head was telling me that she was just saying this to pile me with compliments so I would buy off of her… But anyway.

She cleansed my face with their Remove It Make Up Remover which smell beautiful. After she cleansed my face she applied their Triple Performing Facial Emulsion to my face. This moisturiser hydrates, protects & comforts the skin with an oil-free, lightweight formula. She applied it to half of my face and and gave me the mirror to show the difference. To my dismay, my rosey cheeks that were burning up cause of it being a bit warm in the store had calmed down, well the one side she had applied it to had anyway. Not sure that’s because of the moisturiser or a coincidence… But I might have to purchase some of that to find out for myself!

After she had applied the moisturiser to the other half of my face she started to ask me about primers. I told her I was currently using Mac Prep + Prime (review coming soon!) she then pulled out the UKs number one selling primer The POREfessional. I’ve used this primer before and told her how much I loved it when I used it, but she still felt the need to prove to me how good it was. She took my hand and asked me to part my index finger a thumb to stretch out the skin between those two fingers. She applied it to my skin where it is quite creased and showed me how it fills in the lines. I was quite impressed to be honest.

She applied the primer to my nose and chin because that’s all I needed aparently. I thought a little under my eyes could of helped out those fine lines, but I felt her to it. So after all that prep, it was finally on to the product i actually came in for, the foundation.

She pointed me towards their Hello Flawless Oxygen WOW Brightening Foundation. This new oil-free brightening liquid foundation builds from light to medium coverage for a natural complexion. The bottle is pretty awesome too cause it gets every last drop of foundation out of the tube. I hate when you have finished a foundation off but you have loads of excess foundation you can’t get your hands on! This is similar design to No7 foundations. It’s also 25 SPF which is great for me because as soon as I see sun I’m burnt. We together chose ivory as my shade and she applied my foundation while having a chat about my plans for the bank holiday.  She finished my foundation off and showed me how it looked. I’m used to a full coverage because I’m quite conscious of my freckles and blotchy skin, but my face actually looked brighter and fresher! I was shocked my skin could look this good without a full coverage. I asked if it was easily buildable to a full coverage and she said it was. She asked me if I wanted her to apply more, but i was overjoyed with my new glowing look. Full review is available here!

So after I stopped starring in the mirror, she stated talking to me about powders. I told her I was currently using Rimmel London Stay Matte Pressed Powder and that it had been a staple in my makeup bag for a long time. She introduced me to Hello Flawless Pressed Powder and I immediately fell in love with the packaging. The one thing that I always thought would make the rimmel Pressed Powder better was for it to be portable with a mirror. This is just the thing I needed for on the go touch ups. This silky powder cover-up glides on naturally sheer and layers beautifully for customised coverage with SPF protection.

It also has a sponge and brush underneath the powder which just flips up and a handy little mirror. Benefits packaging always gets me excited. Even the box it comes in I love! She picked the powder that matched my foundation and applied it on my forehead, most and chin, which are my oiliest spots on my nose.

So after applying the Pressed Powder she asked me if I wanted to look at some of their blushers, bronzes and concealers which I declined as I’m pretty happy with what I have at the moment. There wasn’t any pressure at all to buy everything she had used on me, but she politely asked if I was interested in any of the products she had used today. That’s my fear of going to a make up counter and the people forcing me to buy their products cause she’s used it. Not that has ever happened, but it’s always in the back of your head. I hate those pressure pitches.. Puts me right off. After looking at all the products she had used I picked the foundation, primer and powder!

I was impressed with the woman’s knowledge of her products and how polite she was. She never let there be any awkward silences between us which I loved as I’m rubbish at small talk! Overall a lovely experience, and I came away with some lovely products.

All together my purchased came to £76.50 which is more then I intended to buy and spend! But I’m happy to have a compact power and another primer! Let me know your experiences with makeup counters!

March Birchbox First Impressions

Hello beauties! I have you are all well. It feels like spring is just around the corner with this beautiful weather we have been having (or in the Midlands anyway!) so I’m still playing catchup with my beauty subscriptions so this one is a little later then usual so I do apologise.. But better late than never!

This month Birchbox partnered with lifestyle and homeware gurus, Habitat for our DO Try This At Home theme. Spring is here and it’s the perfect time for a little renovation, whether that means shaking up your beauty routine, starting a DIY project or restyling your living space.

Serenity Skincare Dead Sea Bath Salts

Serenity dead sea salt is imported from the lowest point on earth in Jordan. The salts are 100% natural and chemical free, and also have not been tested on animals. Serenity is formulated to restore the natural balance of moisture to the skin in return giving the skin the vital minerals the body requires. The therapeutic benefits of serenity salts are: treating eczema, arthritis, skin infections, dry skin, psoriasis, joint pain, relieving muscle tension or for simply relaxing and enjoying a rejuvenating experience.

I love bath Salts. They are such a simple thing that can make your bath feel that more luxurious. These can also be used as an exfoliator for your skin while in the bath. It doesn’t say how big the sample bag is, but it’s quite big. 1kg bag is £7.50 which I think is really good!

Catherine Malandrino Style De Paris

This scent from fashion designer Catherine Malandrino hits all the right notes with a playful yet sophisticated oriental fragrance mixed with fun fruits. Like her renowned, sought-after designs, it’s the perfect blend of chic Parisian style and the infectious energy of New York City.

I’m actually in the market for a new perfume. I’ve recently given up smoking, so I have some spare cash on me. It will be 2 weeks when posting this that I gave up, so I thought I would treat myself. This smells absolutely amazing, so I will be considering this when making my choice!

TanOrganic Self Tanning Oil

Excellent Facial and Body Tan with ultra moisturising ingredients, voted the best Facial Tan in 2013 by RSVP magazine. TanOrganic Self-Tanning Oil gives a visibly luxurious tan that lasts up to 4 days after application. It ensures unrivalled ease of application and optimal moisturising with no oily effect. Its citrus scent leaves a delicate, fresh fragrance with a unique moisturising action. This Self Tanning Oil is the perfect tan for those who lust after a natural looking tan all year round.

So this is gonna be pretty pointless for me as I’m pale and kinda like it that way! I wish there was an option to opt out of Tanning products on these beauty subscriptions. Full size is 100ml at £24.99

Benefit Roller Lashes

It’s a roller for lashes! The eye-opening Hook ‘n’ Roll™ brush grabs, separates, lifts and curls…while the instant curve-setting formula holds for 12 hours.

I’ve had my eye on this product ever since it came out! I’ve had a number of emails from benefit telling me about it, but I have so many mascaras to get though at the moment, I wanted to dwindle my collection before investing. But I must admit, I’m glad I’ve been sent a sample to try out… Because as soon as I got it I tried it and I love it! It separates my lashes and extends then to a lovely length. I’m sure I’ll be doing a review of this fully soon!

Philip Kingsley Elasticizer

The world’s first pre-shampoo conditioning treatment and our hero product. Healthy hair stretches when wet before returning to its original length when dry.
However hair in poor condition snaps and breaks when stretched. Intensely moisturising Elasticizer delivers a rush of moisture to the hair’s cuticle; suppleness, elasticity and bounce appear instantly without weighing down or coating the hair. Visible results from one application that improve with continued use. Fragrance free. Use once a week as a minimum for best results.

I’ve had many samples of this through my beauty subscription. Even though I’ve tried it before, it’s always a welcomed item! I did a review of this item here you can check out!

So overall I am pretty happy about my box, except for the tanning product obviously! But it makes up for it to get to try out the new benefit mascara! I’ve recently unsubscribed from You Beauty, so if you have any recommendations of any beauty boxes I could try out.. Let me know in the comments!

What did you think of your March box? What did you recieve? Have you tried any of these products? Let me know!

December Birchbox First Impressions

Hello beauties! I know I know I’m a bit late with this one! But it’s here now! I’ve been very pleased with Birchbox lately, so i was really excited to receive this box.

With the festivities in full swing, this box was put together to get you ready for the party season. This months box is also in collaboration with accessories designer extraordinaire, Sophie Webster.

Eslor Firming Collagen Day Cream

Give skin a plumping boost with this ultra hydrating lotion infused with Hydrolyzed Marine Collagen

I realise that i forgot to add this into the main picture.. mainly because i have actually been using it a bit. This is a Birchbox exclusive. Its a 10ml sample. Full sized item is worth £50. This is what i prefer about Birchbox to Glossybox. I have an item which is high end, with a good sample size and by a brand I’m not too familiar with. This product is also Paraben Free which i always love.

Electric Hair Hydrate Shampoo

Help to repair damaged and improves shine with this nourishing, moisture rich formula.

Again, this is another brand I’m not too familiar with. This is a sample 30ml sample size which will probably only be good for one wash with the amount of hair i have! I’m curious to see what it will do to my hair because mine is quite damaged from bleaching so i use a lot of products to keep it healthy.

Eyeko Fat Eye Stick Smoke

Your smoke eyes just got as easy as 1-2-3 with this pigmented jumbo pencil

I’ve never really been one for these pencils for your eye shadow. I don’t know why but i always think of when i was a kid and i used to buy these cheap eye shadow pencils that were atrocious colours that were too glittery and would just rub off within an hour. It will probably take me a while to get around to using it because I’m quite set in my ways when it comes to my make up routine. However, it is a colour that i would use so i guess ill have to make myself try  it out when i have more time when doing my make up. This is a full size 4g Birchbox exclusive product worth £8.

Benefit Christmas Cracker High Beam

Open the cracker to discover Benefit’s High Beam; a suits all skin tone liquid illuminator

I’ve heard good things about this product so I’m really excited to try it out. Benefit products are always welcome because they are a lot of money and i like to know they are worth all that money before actually taking the leap, which is why i think Benefit get involved with a lot of beauty subscriptions. I love the cracker too! such a lovely idea for Christmas.

Models Own Nail Polish Obsidian

Matte, yet sparkly. This multi dimensional shade has a velvet finish that we’re obsessed with

I love the colour, i love the glitter, i love Models Own… i don’t love the Velvet top. i hate velvet. it makes my skin crawl. When i first received it, i had to put tape around the top just to try it out!ill be doing a review of this item soon, but one thing i did notice is that when applied, you don’t get that rough surface some glitter nail varnish sometimes leaves! This is a 14ml full sized bottle worth £5.

Trilogy Certified Organic Rosehip Oil

A fine blend of pure rosehip oil for when your skin’s in need of some extra nourishment.

I have a lot of skincare items to get through so i can see this being a while until i have a chance to properly use it. I’m really curious about it though because again its a brand I’m not too familiar with. This is a 2.5ml sample. A full sized bottle is worth £16.50

Lifestyle Bonus
Sophia Webster Purse

Take a walk on the wild side with this leopard print pouch from the converted designer and the Birchbox collaborator!

This will come in handy, and it really is lovely! Might keep it to put in my bag for nights out since its so small.

So that’s my Birchbox for this month! I have loved that most of the items were from brands I’m not familiar with, which is the whole point of these beauty subscriptions, to try out products you haven’t heard of and to find your new favourite! I’ve only received £13 worth of full sized items, but the sample sizes make up for the rest. Its not the best Birchbox I’ve received, but ill get use out of most of my items!

If you’re interested in subscribing to Birchbox, use my referral link and each of our accounts will be credited with £5 to use in the birchbox shop!

What did you think of this months Birchbox? Wish you received anything you didn’t? Let me know!

December Empties

Hello beauties! I can’t believe it’s December already, I remember new years last year like it was a couple of months ago. So I only tend to do an empties every other month because I’m so awful at actually using stuff up! I never like to post our a few things so I like to save up for a nice bit post!

I’ve got a good mixture of products this month, ranging from make up, Bath products to Skincare products. I’ve got quite a lot this month so lets get into what I’ve used up shall we?

I don’t know why I never use alot of make up. Maybe because I get bored of using one thing and I move onto the next.. But something I will always use up is foundation. The foundation I’m talking about is the Max Factor All Day Flawless 3-1 Foundation. I’ve done a full review of this that I’ve linked too. I’ve brought about three bottles and I’ve really loved it. It’s got a medium coverage, but it’s easily built up to a full coverage, it has concealer and primer fused in, and it lasts pretty well! But it’s time to move on! I’ve moved onto the Mac Studio Fix Fluid which I will be reviewing soon.

The next thing I used up is Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser. I’ve done a full review of this also. This is an easy on the purse primer. I did notice after a while of using it, it kinda dried my skin out after a while so I don’t think I’ll be buying this one again. I’m currently using Revlon Photoready Perfecting Primer which I’m really enjoying and I’m finding that because it not a silicon primer, it’s hydrating my skin more.

Bath Products

I love my bath products. Anything that makes me feel more relaxed is right up my alley. I love bath oils, so I got through this little beauty Kenipp Pure Relaxation Bath Oil pretty quickly. It smells gorgeous but unfortunately not very moisturising to skin. I’m currently using another which is extremely moisturising so it makes up! I actually for this in a set from Reify who is from Germany in our Beauty Swap, and I’ve actually seen that they have this brand in this month’s You Beauty Discovery Box! I’d advise anyone to get it!

The next item in my empties list is Avon Sense Passion Exotic Show Gel. The thing that annoyed me about this is that it’s a bugger to actually open! But on the upside it smells amazing so I won’t hold it against Avon! It smells so floral, I can smell it in the bathroom for hours after I’ve been in!

The next thing I’ve used up is Simple Kind To Skin Soothing Facial Toner. I really try to take care if my skin, and toners are something i use everyday after washing my face. This is my second bottle of this now and it’s so cheap! You can get a 200ml bottle for a couple of quid. Toners restore the PH balance in your skin after you have washed it, so it’s always a good thing to use! I love simple as a brand. Definitely getting another.

You’ve seen me post about this and you know my views on it, I’m talking about the Benefit It’s Potent! Eye Cream. If you haven’t, I’ve linked it for you to check out. I received this in a Birchbox a while ago. I’m really disappointed with this because of the actual ingredients in it. Some people have commented saying they have had break out from this, and I’m not surprised with all the alcohol in this. I usually love benefit skincare products, and to be fair it is an alright moisturiser, but it just let’s it down with all the claims it makes when it’s just impossible with the lack of effective ingredients. I definitely won’t be buying this full size.

This is always a section in my empties that’s always going to be jam packed! Mostly because of the amount of products i use on my hair to maintain it, but also because I have so much hair! The first product I’m gonna be talking about is Syoss Oil-In-Cream Remedy Mask. I recently did a full review of this that I’ve linked if you want to check it out. As you can see, I squeezed everything I could possible get out of this tube! I’ve really loved this. This is a Keratin products that repairs the structure or your hair. The really crap thing about my hair is that because I bleach is, it tends to snap off alot. From this, I feel that it never actually gets any longer! But when I went to visit my hair dresser, she actually said how long my hair had gotten! You never notice yourself, but after she said it, I agreed! And other people have noticed too. I got this again from Reify in our beauty swap. I’m on the prowl for another tube! Really loved this. If you can get your hands on this, send me a tube!

You all know I love a good hair mask. I really need them with my hair to hydrate it from what the bleach takes out, so I’ve been using Avon Heavenly Hydration Hair Mask. I’ve done a full review of this linked if you want to check it out. I’ve used another Avon hair mask which is the Blissfully Nourishing Hair Mask. While looking through the latest Avon brochure, I couldn’t find it! Which is gutting because it smells amazing, which is the only thing missing from the Heavenly Hydration Hair mask. It leaves my hair feeling so soft so at least it’s not a total loss! I’ll be buying another tub of this!

I’ve been trying to get thorough some of my shampoos that i haven’t used up. I tend to start using a shampoo, and then I buy another type and use that instead and so on.. It’s a vicious circle. The first one I’ve been using up is The Body Shop Banana Shampoo. I don’t think I’ve ever done a review on this because I’ve had it sat in my bathroom so long unfinished. Banana is one of those smells like marmite. You either love it or you hate it, and I love it. It’s not the best shampoo ever, and that’s probably why I swapped it for another shampoo, but it does smell yummy!

My next shampoo is one I’ve been loving for a while now, which is The Body Shop Ginger Anti Dandruff Shampoo. When I first started this blog, this was one of the first thing I reviewed. I have alot of trouble with dry skin on my scalp, and this seems to be the only thing that battles it, although it’s not the best for the colour in my hair so I try not to use it all the time, just when I start to get an itchy scalp. I’ll definetly be purchasing another one. I’m on the prowl for a shampoo that battles dry skin and also is suitable for colour hair, so if you know of anything let me know!

And finally! Last, but certainly not least.. My old friend Avon Advanced Techniques Moroccan Argan Oil. I’ve done a full review of this that I’ve linked. Again, this is one of the first things that I actually reviewed on my blog. I use this after I’ve washed my hair, which makes it easier to brush and leaves it silky soft when I’ve dried my hair. I can’t count the amount of bottles I’ve had of this, but it’s alot! It’s around £4 for a 30ml bottle and it lasts be a couple of months, so for anyone with thin hair it’s gonna last you so much longer then that. This is definitely one of my staple haircare products and nothing has come close to this.

Phew! That was long! Maybe I shouldn’t do one of these every other month! If you’ve used anything I’ve used up please tell me what you thought of it too! Thanks for reading x

Benefit It’s Potent! Eye Cream Review

Hello beauties! So I’ve been using this a while now, every morning and every night. I received this in my September Birchbox. I’ve been quite surprised at how long it’s lasted me! But i suppose when your using something on such a small area like your eyes, it’s gonna!

It’s potent! eye cream fades dark circles & helps smooth fine lines for brighter, younger-looking eyes. Contains a peptide complex known to help restore elasticity & firmness, a blend of hydrating botanical extracts including apple extract, known to help boost collagen, & loquat extract, known to help protect the skin from free radical damage.

This is a 3g sample I received, and like i said, it’s lasted me quite a while! I recently had some trouble with the sensitive skin around my eyes. It was looking so dry when I put any foundation on my skin. I had to use extra Virgin Olive Oil to deeply hydrate my skin for a couple of weeks. After that I maintained it with this cream. Let’s start with the packaging. I never really understand when creams are in jars. All plant extracts, vitamins and antioxidants break down once the jar is opened and lets the air in, which leads the ingredients to degrade. Now let’s get into the stuff in the jar. I don’t have particularly sensitive skin. But one of my blogger friends Rachel over at Rachwat said she had a reaction using this. So I decided to investigate what’s actually in this Potent cream. Turns out, this cream is jam packed with film-forming agent. As we all know, film-forming agent can make skin feel smoother and temporarily tighter. It can also make your skin irritated. Irritation can lead to wrinkles, bags and dark circles. Everything this cream claims to reduce! It’s also lacking in anti aging ingredients, it contains more preservative and alcohol then anything to reduce those fine lines. Alot of people have said that they have noticed their skin stinging when they have applied it. This is due to the amount of alcohol in it. On the plus side, it is a cracking moisturiser, despite all the alcohol. Personally I prefer something heavier for the PM to soak into my skin, but it was good for the AM. It kept my dry eyes at bay. It soaks into your skin beautifully, and it works great under your make up. But I’m afraid ladies that it’s just another glorified moisturiser.

Will I be buying the full size jar? I will not be. If it was a bit cheaper I could consider it, but £25 for just a bog standard moisturiser is far too much in my opinion. Don’t get me wrong, I do like this moisturiser, but I just don’t agree with the lack of beneficial ingredients and the over powering of film forming agents which irritate skin.

Have you tried this cream? What did you think? What eye cream are you using at the moment? Let me know!
