How to get your feet ready for spring!

Hello beauties! I hope you are all good. So spring is here and this is the time of year to get out your sandles and sunglasses and enjoy what sun we get! But there is one thing we have to prepare… And that’s our feet! We all do it.. We all forget about our feet in the winter. They are hidden away in closed shoes for months and months and we just forget to take care of them! I thought to myself last year that I was gonna try and take care of my feet throughout winter. I did.. For a couple of months.. And then totally forgot! But have no fear, I have wrote up this post so we can all get our feet ready for spring and in to those new sandals you just brought!

Hard Skin
Heels get thick skin in the winter. Before I shower I use the Scholl Velvet Smooth Express Pedi Electronic Foot File. It’s great because it takes all the effort out of filing your feet. The file has a roller head that turns and you just apply a little pressure to remove any thick skin. Don’t press to hard though or it just stops! This is currently available at Boots for £29.99! It’s so worth it. So much better then those pumice stones, and less effort too!

Foot Scrub
I realise you aren’t gonna have time all the time to file down your dry skin.. Cause it does take a while! So in between treatment I use The Body Shop Peppermint Soothing Pumice Foot Scrub. The exfoliating volcanic rock granules help to slough away rough patches of hardened skin, to leave feet femininely soft, smooth and freshly fragrant. Perfectly prepared for those strappy sandals! You can get a 100ml tub for £7 which is pretty good…
and it smells amazing!

image

Moisturiser
One product i have been loving lately is something I got some Christmas, which is Soap and Glory Heel Genius. I apply this at night after my shower and put some cotton socks on I got from Avon and go to bed! In the morning my feet feel amazingly soft. This is currently available at Boots for £5.50 for a 125ml tube which lates a while! Still haven’t gotten through mine yet!

image

Toe Hair!
Everyone has it, some more than others. You can remove toe hair any way you like.. depilatory, shave, wax, whatever works. Removing toe hair is one of those little things that can make your feet look smooth and polished!

After all that, all you have to do is paint your nails! That’s the fun part. What products have you been using to get your feet into shape ready for spring?

The Body Shop Vitamin E Sink In Moisture Mask Review

Hello beauties! I hope you’re all well. So with these high winds we have been having lately, my skin has been especially dry lately. This mask has been my best friend. I purchased this in a recent The Body Shop Haul.

image

image

Sink some antioxidant Vitamin E into your skin. Bring skin back to optimum moisture level with this intensely hydrating mask.

Application
Smooth a thin layer onto dry, clean skin with your fingers. Leave for 10 minutes. You may feel a slight cooling sensation. Then simply wipe away with a tissue.

Review
This mask is like a thin facial cream. It doesn’t dry onto your face like a usual mask would, which is great if you have dry skin like me at the moment. It smells amazing too, like really amazing… So much so when I first tried it I had my nose in it for 10 minutes before putting it on! The thing I love about this is that because it doesn’t dry onto your skin like other masks, it’s so easy to remove! I just use a cloth to remove mine. This opens up more opportunities to actually use it. I can use it before work if I have a little extra time to wait around, because you haven’t got the time consuming job of removing it after!

It’s very cooling too. I can imagine it being so soothing in the summer when your house is like an oven, or you have had a stressful day at work. It leaves your skin feeling so so soft. Like a babies bottom if you will! You don’t need to use alot either. Because it’s so thin, it spreads beautifully so a tub lasts a while. This product currently retails at £13 for a 100ml tub. You can check it out on The Body Shop’s website here.

Conclusion
Although I do love this product and I think it’s amazing, I do have some concerns for people with sensitive skin. Looking at the ingredients there are so many fragrance ingredients which we all know irritates skin. My skin isn’t irritated easily so I’m alright, but if you have especially sensitive skin I could maybe look elsewhere. But that’s my only gripe with this product to be honest.

Vitamin E is amazing. It’s one of the most powerful antioxidant vitamins you can put on your face! With that, you’d think this mask is nothing short of amazing. I use this about 3 times a week to keep my skin feeling soft. That works great for me. I’ve noticed that you can’t really use this once a week and have soft skin all week, so this isn’t no mirical cure to dry skin, you need to keep on top of it!

Have you tried this mask? What did you think? Can you recommend any masks for me to use? Let me know!

The Body Shop Haul

Hello beauties! I hope you’re all going well. I haven’t actually brought anything from The Body Shop for a while now because I wanted to try out some other brands, since I was getting a little over the top on my reviews it their products! But they are back! I kept getting emails saying they had offers on, and I couldn’t take it any longer!

image

I also got talked into getting their loyalty card too which id never really been interested in as I only ever really shop with them when they have offers on. I’d always been under the assumption that you couldn’t use the card with an offer, but aparently you can! Or so said the sales assistant…

Warming Mineral Mask

image

This cleansing mask for all skin types warms on contact with wet skin. It leaves skin clean and revitalised.

I actually got this as a free gift when I signed up for the loyalty card. Can’t complain about that since its worth £10. I was actually in the market for a new face mask anyway and I haven’t experimented much with self heating ones except for the Soap & Glory No Clogs Allowed Super Self-Heating Deep Pore Detox Mask.. Why do Soap & Glory products have such long names.. What a mouth full!

Vitamin E Gentle Facial Wash

image

A gentle facial wash that lathers on the skin to leave it feeling clean, soft and refreshed

I needed something gentle because I keep breaking out in random spots. I’ve never really had sensitive skin, or been prone to spots.. But lately I’ve been breaking out more then usual. This is a 100ml tube for £8.50. This is one of the body shops best selling products so I’m very excited to give it a go!

Vitamin E Cream Exfoliator

image

A light and creamy facial scrub to gently exfoliate without irritating the skin, leaving it feeling smooth, soft and refined.

So as you can probably tell I’m sticking with the Vitamin E theme! I find that when you use products from the same range they work better with skincare. This 75ml tube is £10. Full review available here.

Vitamin E Sink In Moisture Mask

Sink some antioxidant Vitamin E into your skin. Bring skin back to optimum moisture level with this intensely hydrating mask.

I’m having trouble lately with dry skin, so a hydrating mask was definitely what i wanted to leave with. This is a 100ml tub for £13. Full review of this product is available here.

I got all of this in a 3 for 2 offer which totaled to £25.70 (including the loyalty card which is £5) which is pretty good! I only ever shop with bodyshop when they have offers on because I think some products are a little expensive. But they have them on all the time which is awesome!

Their Love Your Body card gives you 10% off your purchases for a year and gains you access to their exclusive members only events and perks throughout the year, including a special birthday present and sneak previews of new products.

Reviews of these items will be up when I’ve had a chance to get to them!

Have you shopped in the body shop lately? What did you get? Have you used anything I got? Let me know!

The Body Shop Spa Wisdom Africa Ximenia & Salt Scrub Review

I brought this in my Body Shop Haul. I’ve never really been much for salt scrubs, but since I had to make my money up to get the discount I thought I would give this a try.

image

image

This salt scrub is inspired by African tribal spa rituals. It moisturises as it exfoliates

Application
Massage onto wet skin in the bath or shower. Rinse thoroughly.

Review
I love the packaging of this. It’s so cute and reusable, and the tub is so big at 350ml, it’s going to last me forever! It says to massage onto wet skin, but I think it works better on dry skin. Not totally dry but I find that it doesn’t work as well if your skin is soaked. When I used it on wet skin it just seemed to disappear and it just seemed really pointless. It smells great and the texture is amazing. It’s not too rough on your skin and the cream in the scrub really moisturises. Left my skin so soft and polished.

Conclusion
I think this is a little bit expensive at £15. Saying that, you do get alot and I’ve been using this for a few weeks now and I feel like I have used hardly any. The Body Shop always have offers on, which is only when I really buy from them to be honest, so you can always get a good deal of things that you think are a bit expensive. The benefits of this scrub are amazing, as long as you use it on dry skin. It’s pretty pointless on wet skin. I have no idea why they tell you to use in wet skin.

You can check out this item on The Body Shop website here.

Have you used this salt scrub? What did you think? Do you use any other salt scrubs? Anything you can recommend? Let me know!

Review: The Body Shop Polynesia Monoi Miracle Oil

image

This fragrant oil is inspired by Polynesian spa rituals. It can be used as a body moisturiser, massage oil, bath oil or hair conditioner.

I brought this in my Body Shop Haul. After using MONU Spa Warming Ginger Massage & Body Oil I became rather obsessed with bath oils. The thing that I initially liked about this product is that you can use it as a hair conditioner too. Anything that conditions my hair and makes it smell good while making my skin feel and smell amazing is good in my books.

Application
For use as a moisturiser, massage into skin. For massage, pour into palms and apply in smooth, firm strokes. For bathing, pour into a bath and stir to disperse the oil. To condition hair, apply to the ends, leave for a few minutes or overnight, then wash with shampoo.

Review
First off, I love the smell of this. It absorbed well and doesn’t leave any residue. A little goes a long way. It comes in a sturdy plastic bottle and the texture of the oil is light with a floral jasmine scent. Since its getting a bit drier now I tend to get dry arms. This left my arms feeling nourished. It lasted a long time too. It’s a multi-functional oil, so the second time I used it i massaged some on to the ends of my hair and left it for a couple of hours before jumping in the bath. It left my hair feeling silky smooth.

Conclusion
Would I buy this again? Definitely. The multi functional aspect of this I love. I think it’s a reasonable price at £10 for 150ml bottle. But as I have said before you can always get this products in one of there many offers they have to get it a bit cheaper.

Have you tried this product? If you have what were your thoughts? Let me know!

Review: Body Shop Ginger Anti-Dandruff Shampoo

So I’ve decided to review some products I use everyday while I’m trying out my Glossybox items. So my first item that I’m going to review is from one of my favourite shops, Bodyshop. The reason I love bodyshop is simple. They are against animal testing, a fair trade company and they are actively taking action to protect our planet. Plus there products are amazing! When there shop first popped up into my local shopping centre I thought it was rather expensive, but as of late they have been having lots of great offers. I’m constantly receiving special offers or coupons for 40% off or free delivery. This makes me come back everytime, cause everyone likes to know they are getting a good deal, right? So expect alot of Bodyshop stuff here..

This refreshing shampoo with ginger extract is perfect for dry scalps.

Flake clearing, scalp smoothing shampoo with refreshing ginger extract

I had a dry itchy scalp for some time and it was quite embarrassing. I couldn’t use Head and Shoulders because it would dry out my hair. I was stuck. I washed my hair as much as I could to maintain the flakes but they never went. I popped into my local Bodyshop and asked one of the helpful shop assistants for some advice. That’s another thing I love about this shop, the staff have good product knowledge. So after talking to the shop assistant for a couple of minutes, she recommended this product to me. A couple of questions I had were..

Will this dry out my hair?

Is this suitable for coloured hair?

Her answer to my first question is simple. This product isn’t formulated to condition your hair, but as long as you use a good conditioner after, your hair will be fine. Which is fair enough. As long as it doesn’t dry my hair out as much as Head and Shoulders did, which it didn’t.
Her answer to my second question was no, because the ingredients were natural, it won’t strip the blonde out if my hair and make it yellow, which it hasn’t. I was sold!

I brought the 400ml bottle because my hair is thick and I tend to go through shampoo like air. But it actually lasts longer then I thought it would. I’ve had it for a month now and I’ve only used just under a quater of it.

Review
After the first use I could feel a difference in my hair straight away. It felt so clean and the flakes were going. I didn’t expect the mirical cure, there were still flakes but much less then previously. After my fourth use, they were completely gone. I was amazed. No more itching my head without realising! No more flakes on my shoulders, having to check them every so often! No more hair dressers pointing out I have a dry scalp!
Although they are gone, I still get the odd flake before I’m due to wash my hair, but I expect that because your hair needs cleaning. People would tell me how nice my hair looks when I’ve just washed it, and I agreed! It did look awesome.

Conclusion.
I’d recommend this product if you are like me and suffer from a dry scalp or if you have dandruff. Don’t expect it to work straight away, keep using it and you will reap the benefits. The only thing that annoys me with this product is that there is no conditioner to go with it! So make sure you get a good conditioner as well, as this product isn’t designed to add moisture to your hair.

This product is available in two sizes.
250ml at £4.50
400ml at £6.50

Have you used this product? What did you think of it? Are you thinking of trying this product after reading my review? If you do please come back and let me know how you got on. Thanks for reading!
