Birchbox May First Impressions

Hello beauties! I hope you’re all good. This weekend I went to the Birmingham Foodies Festival. All the food was amazing, it was such a good day. If the festival is coming anywhere near you, I highly recommend it!

This month Birchbox have had a bit of a make over. They have announced their editorial theme ‘Free Your Mind’ they have a new booklet which tells you about your products, some tutorials, competitions, new on Pick Your Sample and more! So lets get onto what I received, and what I didn’t receive also!

Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Tinted Moisturiser in Light

As skincare obsessives, there’s nothing we love more than a moisturiser with added benefits so when we heard that Caudalie had created an innovative new product combining our beloved Vinoperfect range with a little complexion coverage we were sold. The ultimate ‘all-in-one’ product, this oil-free formula not covers imperfections but cares for your skin day after day: dark spots will fade, you skin’s natural radiance will shine, and you complexion will never have looked more even!

Tinted moisturisers isn’t something i tend to use alot, as I like to have a medium to full coverage. It has a great applicator though which I’ve pictured above. Makes it easier to get the right amount out of the tube instead of having a massive blob which your not gonna use. The cream is quite thick, but soaks into your skin quite quickly. Smells quite nice too! Might have to try this for when I go to the gym. This is a 15ml sample. Full size is 40ml worth £27.

Wah London Nail Polish in Dry Throat

Demure neutrals are manicure must-haves, but for a much-needed mani shake-up, try these eye-catching polishes from WAH London, Beyond the gorgeous hues, the long-lasting formula glides on super smoothly for an ultra glossy finish and acts as the perfect starting point to our nail art adventures.

I’ve actually never heard of this brand before which is great as this is the reason I subscribe to these boxes! You might be thinking… Why is it called dry throat? It was named Dry Throat after a trip to Morocco where the designer saw desert sands everywhere. This ochre colour takes its inspiration from North Africa and the colour of dry land. It’s a lovely colour and the brush looks great. Can’t wait to try it out! This is a full sized 6.5ml polish worth £9

Parlor by Jeff Chastain Moisturising Sea Salt Spray

Beach hair is no longer reserved for long weekends. Bottling the effects of that salty air, this spray from NYC stylist Jeff Chastain offers instant volume and a tousled texture. Sweet almond extract infuses strands with softness, fullness, and brilliance, while vitamin-rich algae extract nourishes and protects the scalp. Adding to this spray’s addictive nature is the scent of ripe peach, fresh-cut grass, and white woods. All products from the line are safe for colour-treated hair and are free of sulfates, parabens, and gluten.

The first thing I like is that it’s safe for colour treated hair because i have coloured blonde hair! I’m curious about how moisturising it is because of bleaching my hair, it obviously is quite dry! I’m looking forward to trying this one out! This is a 30ml bottle, full size is 147ml worth £17

Absolution Youth Activator Mask

Wonderful things can happen when you combine effective ingredients and beautiful design. Example A is for Absolution. Certified organic, this unisex line of skincare products is an easily combined range that can be adjusted to suit the needs of your skin on any particular day. Absolution Youth Activator Mask is an intense moisturising treatment that replenishes the skin’s water and restores its natural barrier, containing young alfalfa shoot extract, which rich in proteins, vitamins, minerals and trace elements. Skin will appear more radiant, smooth and plump.

Now the weather is getting drier my skin is starting to get patchy again, so this is going to be really useful for me. The moisture is rather watery and smells quite odd, but it’s not a leave on moisturiser so the smell doesn’t stay around. This is a 15ml sample size.  Full size is 50ml worth £29

I was supposed to have a Jelly Pong Pong Bronzer too but unfortunately that was missing. I’m not one for bronzing anyway so it’s not like it will be missed! Overall I think this is an okay box. We have a wide range of products which is good. I hate just getting skin care products in boxes which you find with some subscriptions.

If you’re interested in subscribing to Birchbox, use my referral link and each of our accounts will be credited with £5 to use in the birchbox shop!

Make Up Gallery Time To Shine Nail Polish Review

Hello beauties! I hope you are all week. So these nail varnishes are from my Poundland Haul I did not that long ago. I was so curious to see how these nail varnishes would weigh up against drugstore nail polishes, or even high end. Considering that they are only £1 each (never would or guessed in a pound shop!) I wasn’t expecting alot. I’m the sort of person though that if I see a cheap nail polish, I’ll buy a couple just to see what it’s like. Cause when I find a cheap polish that’s amazing, I’ll go crazy and buy all the colours!

Purple Sheen

Time To Shine Nail Polish contains high shine, long lasting, quick drying colour that will transform your nails in minutes giving a sleek professional finish! This amazing range gives so much choice sporting 39 exciting colours for every type of occasion, mood or outfit! The range includes simple matte colours such as Winter White, Simply Nude, Latte & Mushrom Magic, pretty pastel colours such as Spearmint & Lilac Lush, brilliant brights such as Popping Pink, Electric Orange & Sunshine Yellow, dangerous darks such as deep Amethyst, Midnight Black & Sapphire Blue, not forgetting the metallics and glitters with Precious Gold, Silver Treasure, Teal Tinsel, Purple Glitz & Rainbow Sparkle.

The first polish I tried out was the Latte. I was surprised that the varnish was so opaque, I only needed one coat for a full coverage. I love it when I find a polish that is opaque, because it means less coats, which means less drying time, and it does dry fast too! Not as fast as some polishes, which I think is down to its thick consistency, but considering that it’s £1 a bottle I was very impressed! The longevity too is very impressive. I had it on for a week with only slight chipping.

The Purple Sheen required two coats because it’s a sheen colour so didn’t leave a flat colour on my nail bed. This one seemed to dry a bit faster then the latte. I think this is down to it being a thinner consistency. The longevity was also very impressive with this, but it only lasted me 4 days before it started to chip.

Overall, I think this is an amazing varnish for the price. At just £1 you could buy one of each colour and it not put a strain on your bank account. I’m so impressed with the longevity, and how opaque the latte shade is. If your after a cheap nail polish that isn’t going to break the bank, I suggest you head to your nearest Poundland!

What you found any cheap nail polishes that are amazing? Have you tried these out yet? What did you think? Let me know!

My Poundland Mini Haul

Hello beauties! I hope you’re all well. I don’t go into any Poundshop very much to be honest, but I’ve got into knitting lately! I was told that Poundland have some wool in at the moment so I popped in and saw that they had a make up stand!

So the brand is called MakeUp Gallery, which I haven’t heard of before, but you can check out their range here. Everything is a pound as you can probably guess!

The polish on the left is called Purple Sheen, and the one on the right is called Latte.

The polish on the left is a Top & Base Coat, and the one on the right is a Nail Hardener.

I’ve quickly tried the latte polish and i must say, I am very impressed with how opaque it is! I can’t wait to try them all out properly. I was quite impressed with how many shades were available! I’d of brought more but wanted to try these two out first before splurging… Even though they are only a pound each!

Reviews will be available soon!

Have you tried anything from MakeUp Gallery? What did you think? Have you tried their nail polishes? Let me know!

NOTD: Breakfast At Tiffany’s

Hello beauties! I hope you’re all well. I have a tooth ache at the moment which is highly annoying! Nothing I hate more then a tooth ache, and I always seem to have them, but the dentist says there is nothing wrong with my teeth.. Anyway.. Back to my nails of the day!

I am obsessed with this OPI Turn On The Haute. It’s such an amazing polish for nail art. Again, I’m still enjoying using tape for nail art. It’s just normal sellotape I’m using at the moment cut up, but I have some actual nail art tape that’s a lot thinner that I will be experimenting with soon. The other shade I have is Headline Colours Nail Polish which I absolutely love too. It reminds me of tiffany boxes. It dries so quickly and it’s such a vivid colour. It dries very quickly, and only requires one coat for a completely opaque coverage. The nail art pen is from my Seventeen Nail Clash Collection I got in my Boots Sale Haul. I’m loving these nails at the moment! I’m really enjoying experimenting more. Can anyone recommend some other things to try? Link me to your posts if you have done any cool nail art!

NOTD: Dennis the Menace

Hello beauties! I hope you all had a lovely valentines day. Me? I was at home with my boyfriend, Netflix! Currently obsessed with a TV show Scandal. It’s a political drama and it’s amazing. So if your after something to watch, I recommend that!

So I’ve been experimenting with tape. I decided to use C&E Rough Sublime for the base and Ciaté Unrestricted Glam for the top. In a past NOTD I used this Ciaté and said that it wasn’t very opaque, but I wanted a black and red for my nails. I had to apply two coats to get the black opaque, but unfortunately it left my nails with a ridge. I love the effect of this using the tape, but I just need a better black so I don’t have such noticeable ridges. If you know of a black that’s very opaque with one coat let me know! The red is a lovely shade and dries very quickly, so you don’t have to wait too long to apply the tape. It has a very suttle shimmer to it too which is lovely. Overall I really love this design, but the black kinda let’s it down too. I’m gonna be using tape for more designs in my future posts, it makes nail art so much easier!

NOTD: All That Jazz Lipstick Is Our Obsession

Hello beauties! I hope your all well. I’m quite ill at the moment with a horrendous cough and cold so sorry I’ve been a bit quiet lately. Not sleeping much at the moment at night so when I finish work I haven’t got the energy to do much! But i have got the energy to do my nails! I love this nail varnish. I wore it alot over Christmas because it just screams Christmas! It’s a glitter infused red which I adore. The picture shows 2 coats which I think is quite good for a glitter infused polish! It dries very quickly, so it’s an ideal go to polish if your in a bit if a rush and don’t have time to wait around. It’s quite a tough wearing polish too, which I find most glitter based varnishes are.

what are you wearing at the moment?

NOTD: Boutique Nail Polish – Away With The Fairies

Hello beauties! I hope you are having a lovely Sunday. Today I’ve been wearing Boutique Nail Polish Away With The Fairies I received in my January You Beauty Discovery Box.

When I saw the lid for this nail polish, I thought it was going to be so hard to control. I was surprised to realise that you can actually take off the chunky lid, and there is a small holder for the brush. I was so glad as large lids made for messy nails in my opinion. Makes it so much harder to control. This is a sheer nude colour that is very wearable for any occasion. The picture shows three coats, and even though I put on three coats, I was surprised at how quickly it dries! I’m very much the sort of person who likes a very opaque polish, but I was surprised how much I loved this! The formula is quite thin, but easy to control. I’d love to try out some more opqaque shades from their range!
What are you wearing on your nails today?
